Realitically if you want to build a motor to spec and with the correct things in it and still legal then you shouldn't have to spend much more then $1500. the last two i have done cost about a $1000 but they didn't need everything replaced, ring around and ask a few engine reconditioners, tell them what you want and give them the specs. then ask for a quote and i think you will be pleasantly surprised

Hartly built my mates motor and cost them about 4 grand altogther and fully rebuilt

the last toyota engine i built cost around $650.00 for parts: pistons,rings,big end main & cam bearings,camgrind,timing chain set,valves & springs,gaskets...so 3grand for labour & a rebore is a lot of money!
