Sad to see Ray Jones passed away yesterday, memories of Ray racing the sprintcar at the Meremere highbanks and the springs in the late 80,s and he had some cool modifieds, when the mods first started at Waikaraka he used to travel up from the Taranaki to race every Saturday night because they didn't race them at Stratford at the time, remember being at Rotorua one Easter champs weekend and Ray and Murray Gordge had their Monza body modifieds on the trailers at Cobb and Co,got me excited for the meeting that night,Ray Also won the 1987 NZ modified champs at Palmerston North.R.i.p Ray, thanks for the memory's.

Always a favourite way back then and a top contender everytime he competed. Why can't our champions live forever? Condolences to his nearest and dearest.

R.I.P Ray Jones my best memory of Ray was in his Sprint car at Ellesmere speedway in 1989 at the Main freight Sprint car deal.On the first day he put in a blistering time in one of the heats unfortunately the following day diff problems had him on the side line.Great Sprint car and Modified competitor.

Incredibly sad to hear passing of Ray jones. always fan he was so unlucky not add NZ Sprintcar championship 1987-88 season western springs. i had spoken to Ray numerous times, he was also very keen enthusiast of F1. had many great chats with him.
