Outside of the surprise of Bewley winning - even though the chat seemed to be that he was favourite going in - it was a rubbish meeting overall really. Long, slow and largely uneventful. Despite the pre-meeting talk of Bewley being favourite to win, I don't think anybody would have picked him to blitz the field in each race he won. If he got to the front he just distanced them. Impressive.

To be fair, Bewely has been in red hot form of late in the Polish Extraliga,,,,,which IMHO is streets ahead of the SPG, for both racing quality and entertainment. 1st leg of semi-finals start this weekend incidently. As far as Cardiff goes....it was a complete farce of a meeting....thanks to a poorly made track...soft..littered with rocks/gravel etc. In the following day's under 21 gp they had to doctor the track after every 2 heats then finally called it off before the finals, on safety grounds.

Given Dan Bewley is relatively new to sgp one has to admire form he' shown this year, i felt came on strongly when Great Britain won speedway of nations last year. at the moment he's lying 4th points well being first brit 15 years won home grand prix actually his first of what could be many. shows that racing in British league can still find some great new riders, are able to compete with the best at highest level of speedway racing on shale.

Bewely doesn't race in the British League anymore... hasn't for 2 years or so None of the top boys do. Doyle the exception. What got Bewely going in the last cple of years was the mentoring and help from Tai Woffinden at Wroclaw...giving him the use of his bikes, mechanics etc etc. That really kickstarted his rise and gave him the confidence to compete at that level. A genuine talent for sure...started speedway quite late...and has progressed really well. Sadly, British speedway is a pale shadow of what it once was. Top division only has 6 teams, and most riders also have to ride in the 2nd division as well, in order to earn enough. Poland is where all the top guys race these days. Highly proffessional, big tv deals and the money that brings, big crowds etc, purpose built proper modern speedway stadiums. They also got a convyerbelt of extraordinary junior talent, thanks to their national and club training schemes.

Congrats Dan Bewley winning 2nd straight grand prix on his home track i guess, given he races in the polish leagues. . would of said start of the season with omission of Russian Riders that Bartosz would of waltzed through another grand prix title. certainly not turned out that way, remaining grand prix rounds look fascinating as to just how seasons going end up. just who gonna make automatic top 6 through next season, well just who top 3 will be.
Didnt think ever say this with 3 British boys in gp that wolffinden looked less impressive.
