Crickey, Woodford Glen wont be wanting a season like the Nth Island has had this season. Trying to get all those meetings run after a few reschedules would be interesting!
That is a massive amount of championships for one track.

That is a massive amount of championships for one track. Hosting 5 of the 11 South Island titles Meanwhile there are 4 South Island tracks who are not hosting a single title This is what happens when people with rotation expertise are sidelined in favour of someone who talks smooth (and has good intention) but has absolutely no idea of the mechanics involved. They come up with a solution that sounds great but has glaring issues.

And this is only Year 1 of the new system. All of the Sprintcar titles are shared between just two tracks (WS and Ruapuna), Woodford Glen is down to host two of the four Super Saloon titles, likewise with the Modifieds, Ruapuna the same in the Midget section. Palmy hosts two of the three Minisprint titles, Rosebank and Moore Park share all four Solo championships (only the U21 to Oreti Park) while Palmerston North and Moore Park have all four Sidecar titles between them. Also, several unallocated titles as well.
And this is only the beginning. It will only get worse in future. Unless something is done it won't be long before somebody is allocated the NZ, GP and Island title for the same class all in one season. Thank goodness the Island titles will always be separated by the stretch of water with few ferries.
Actually, on the "by track" section Percy, you have Ruapuna having 3 of the 4 Sprintcar titles, but I think the NZ Sprintcars should read NZ Midgets?

For the reasons Barry & Percy mentioned and a couple of others this looks nothing short of Mickey Mouse. OK I know there isn't a whole heap of tracks running the some classes so you will very occasionally get two meetings held at the same track or a large number of champs at one track, but for your average everyday occasional fan they turn up and there is a nz champs in ABC class they go to their next meeting a month later and there is a GP in XYZ class 5 weeks later there is a NI or SI Chanps in ABC class. The die hards know why but the average everyday 4 or 5 meets a season punter is starting to think are these guys for real, they're making this stuff up as they go, I'm gunna turn up to palmy (for example) next time and they'll say they're running ABC class for the Pascal st championship and it all just cheapens the titles in their minds, and believe me, they far outnumber the die hards.
That on top of the feast for1 season, famine for 5 seasons effect. What a clustertruck

Is the stockcar nz and g.p in different islands a thing they want to normalize or that just a werid thing that they are trying. It's really not hard to allocate titles. Face palm.

Woodford Glen gets 2 Gps 5 Island Titles while 4 other South island clubs get none someone explain how thats fair Things like overall fairness, geographical spread and any one track getting a heap of titles all in the one season (at the expense of others) have nothing to do with the new allocation model. It's 100% data driven (and that data is simply 'whose turn is it next?' for each and every title, irregardless of what else they might already have that season, with basically no human input to ensure common sense prevails). That's my personal opinion of it anyway, based on what has been allocated for the 2023/24 season and taking into account that this is only Year 1, and the things that have been mentioned in the thread above will only multiply as the years go by. Is the stockcar nz and g.p in different islands a thing they want to normalize or that just a werid thing that they are trying. It's really not hard to allocate titles. Face palm. The NZ title and the GP were, in the previous allocation model, always located in the same Island (and, where possible, the GP was allocated to a track within reasonable distance of wherever the NZ title was being held) in a bid to encourage drivers to cross Cook Strait with two major championships to enter on the one trip, if promotions worked together on dates. Since then the Island titles have become open to all drivers in each and every class, so that is no longer an important factor. And if you think "it's really not that hard to allocate titles", you should either do a 5 year block and post it up here for others to comment on (all 4 titles for every SNZ class) or contact SNZ immediately. Should WS not be fit to run next season due to storm damage, what happens to the allocated titles ?

Should WS not be fit to run next season due to storm damage, what happens to the allocated titles ? That's a good question You may recall this past season the North Island Midget Title was held at Waikaraka Park having been allocated to Western Springs. Whether the SNZ board would allow Western Springs to run more titles at other tracks is an issue for them to consider. Other option is Western Springs has to hand back the titles and other tracks (either by rotation or application) run the titles allocated to Western Springs this season.

Anyway considering there is only 2 tracks in the south that run either superstocks or modifieds, these meetings will be just like a club night to be honest.

Don’t be surprised to see massive entries at that modified meeting double header is my pick I think it’s a super smart promotional move Add in the other classes - 6 different teams for teams races and South Island streetstocks and I wouldn’t be surprised if there are 200 plus cars in the pits Probably be a good idea to start at 6pm

In one sense I do think that south island titles deserve to be won by south Islanders. But in the other side it could produce far better racing
Will north island modifieds travel? The invasions of previous years says it all.

Interesting to see a Speedway NZ remit, next season will be the last season of GPs so North Island and South Island titles can be made bigger and a bit lest congestion on the calender, good to see.
