1NZ 79P, runoff for 2nd, 99V & 9W??? Are you sure about that? Using My Laps I Have 8A finishing 2nd, 5th and 4th in the three finals giving him 82 points, the same as 79P. Maybe there is an error in My Laps or possibly changes of placings from what My Laps shows? There was 2 x DQ's in Heat 1 and points changes in Heat 2 that commentary hadn't been advised of - but knew about due to drivers having different points entering Heat 3 than what they had exciting Heat 2 - so who knows what the final outcome will be. Appears 8a made a last corner pass to put himself right up there anyway. Barry B

My bad, I overlooked Logan Peat, thinking he has 82 points, Rowe 81, Arapere & Lockett 80.

So Tyler Walker's DQ from 5th place in Heat 1 gave 79p {and everybody behind him) one extra point (and those even further down got 2 bonus points due to the second Heat 1 DQ), but not Logan Peat who was in front of Walker at the finish of that race. That's one thing that can be annoying about DQ's (or even relegations at times), especially in classes where the points are always so tight. The transgressor gets punished, fair enough (although Walker was DQ'd under the most unfortunate of circumstances) but others can benefit or suffer as a result. Had Tyler Walker not popped a tyre of the rim exiting T4 on the final lap of Heat 1, Logan Peat would be New Zealand Stockcar champion tonight. Take nothing away from Kyle Rowe, you race what's in front of you, but man this sport can be fickle at times!!

So, from memory, 9w 56 pts, 79p 54 pts, 8a 52 pts after two heats. Barry B That's what they gave us at the time, but we now know 8a had 55 points after Heat 2. 79p did have 54 points. And I think 9w was on 56. Off the screen there was 2 points between 1st and 2nd, with a further 2 points back to 3rd. But as the cars came out for Heat 3 there were only 1 point margins. 56, 55, 54. Obviously Tony G's screen may have been playing tricks on him. Mind you, it's happened before with Stockcars. It takes quite awhile for all of the DNF's to drop out, and it happed last time at Stratford when I announced a two-way run-off for the title that then became a three-way run-off fir first. But the last Baypark NZ Stockcar title really caught out Paul Hickey and myself, when a winner was announced and the crowd was applauding, then we both noticed on the screen, that man Tyler Walker again, as the DNF's dropped down the list, six DNF's on the last lap, and Walker, who staggered around to finish, laps down from memory but at least he finished, edged his way up the finishing order until he was suddenly New Zealand champion. Several cars completed more laps, but you have to cross the line to collect points. It may be that when Tony G read out those points tonight, it was a little too fast, perhaps, maybe. What a night. Another New Zealand Stockcar title done and dusted. Barry B

Tyler just claimed in an interview it popped the right rear in T4 on the final lap. So he really had no choice but to finish the race, but then came the DQ. There has to be a better way. Will this NZ title go to any driver lucky enough to not get a puncture? Barry B It was the worst timing for Tyler and honestly shows how pathetic the rule is. Maybe a form of grace period needs to be introduced, especially at championships, where if a flat tyre occurs in the last 2 laps a driver is free to continue provided it's safe to do so and in some form of controlled manner. The drivers can be told via their radios there's 2 laps to go and they can be aware from there. Something definitely needs to change and needs some heavy thought into what and how to do it.

The nit wit who wore a t shirt with disgusting sexual content toward 33s should not have been allowed to enter the stadium, he sat not far from me and his yelling and screaming each time there was a stoppage with 33s in front of us was quite frankly abnormal behaviour. You got what you deserved by being evicted, and what happened outside the stadium was bought on by yourself. Why, why was he not refused entry at the gate was beyond me, children didn,t need to see or hear the crap.

Take the rule away for championships, and if there every was an injury from it, work safe will prosecute, . Snz can boot drivers off if they are causing a hazard, cars can still finish, it’s a long way to travel to get a flat tyre and wreck ur night

Yes, this is a speedway forum board is it not, Doesn,t have to be about racing, it has to do with behaviour @ the New Zealand stockcar champs. .

Back to the tyres issue. How come the right rears are going down? Would a right rear bead locker rule help in any way?

Although it'd be hot weather to be wearing his favourite cardigan. Maybe the nitwit knitted his own cardy. At least he got evicted. And sorted out Barry B

The run-off was a disappointment, but being tuned into 'The Pits' livestream we got to hear the referee's warning over the one-way radio to the drivers as they emerged the pit gate, basically "the run-off is to normal racing rules, no over-aggressive attacking and no stopping", and as with any other run-offs over the course of the weekend this was generally related twice and in no uncertain terms. A driver that then did anything wrong could have no excuse. He had it all explained to him extremely clearly only seconds before the green flag dropped and streamers got tp hear that. Brilliant..

So 8a got the reds for pushing 79p off the pole line at the drop of the flag in run off, why do such a thing knowing your action means elimination. .
