Anyone know what the deal is with Practice for the Nz title at Stratford? With the largest contingent of South Island cars travelling North I’m sure there will be plenty looking for a chance to have a skid before the big meeting. Understand it’s still part of the hosting rights to host a practice, as HB did 👍🏻 No pratice theres too many cars need to look after the track

I think the rule requiring a practice to be held no longer exists except for Bikes

That’s a very good question. Should definitely have happened in Greymouth would have been good for the town and the promotion. Likewise thing it should happen at all NZ titles. Still, no matter which way you swing it’s a lottery. Hopefully the flat tyre rules doesn’t ruin the spectacle Fingers crossed the ELS system is up to the task - lots of double up numbers and heaps of 3 digit numbers for the poor lap scorers

Is 240 cars too many?
Split the class, take all the efi, competition tyre cars and run one class and keep the carb, street tyre cars as another.
Job done

Job done Yes i agree if they want to run expensive competition tyres they should spend more money and just get a superstock, literally hundreds of road tyres to choose from that cover all budgets. Have witnessed some cars even running them on the front they must have some serious money to burn.. must be nice

I dont know what's happening on the teams racing front but stockcar teams racing is going backwards. No longer 6 car teams and still the number of stockcar team events and teams is decreasing all the time. Only 5 tracks create this problem. Whanguni is soon. Rotorua and palmy as well as the bay. That's it. Everybody else is fine.

Hmmm surely im not the only one having trouble reading this lol With the amount of teams at nz teams last year more south island teams and teams traveling all the way to christchurch and then back in palmy for the invasion back to back weekends i would say its getting bigger? What i will say though is running the North Island Champs the week before nz teams is not good for it

There’s so much on, look at December alone the Waikato raiders and meanee maulers went back to back to back 3 weekends across both north and South Island and we still have the nz champs to come, stratfords event, the Peter Barry memorial, Huntly have an invitational. Am I missing anyone? Also we don’t have those dynasty dominant teams at the moment. Ie Wellington young guns 5 times back to back champs, Palmerston North pumas 5 times national champs so for that alone you’d have to agree that the teams are extremely even right now.

What has teams racing got to do with the amount of entries for the NZs? 😂

It’s interesting
I crewed for two mates at the last Nz title in Stratford - the one that previously had the record number of cars. I forget how long ago 13 years back?
Same discussion then - professionally built cars v home built.
One guy had a home built car with a flash Holden v6 with heads by Rossco and big pistons etc, ran by a computer
Took away 4 Nz from chch, closest at that stage that any South Island car got to a podium. Pooh Bear did unreal.*edit post - apologies that was aucjland 4nz he qualified at the nzs in Stratford
My other mate had a flash Rees Race Car chassis a couple of years old - but with a standard falcon. Won his first qualifying race and made it through to the big show. Blocked Richard gaskin in the final to prevent him getting 1nz helping his mate Pete out. Dale did a better job on Pete.
Think Stratford is a leveller of a momentum track so you’ll get what you get and will still heaps of luck
Either way going to be a mega title with heaps of actio. . Can’t wait to have a skid at Stratford for the first time
Edit post : p.s any tips on gearing running a 1.68 ZF a 4.5 diff head 88. RR - hopefully should be close for. Holden wanting run at 6900

Especially when the bits that almost make sense appear to be the complete opposite of what is actually happening in real life. In the end I gave up trying to make sense of it. Barry B
