We have our first stockcar, what safety gear are people using, knee pads, elbow pads, kidney belt etc? Mostly motocross or other stuff? Cheers in advance.

Yes to all of the above but most importantly a mouth guard. Dentists aren’t normally fully covered under ACC, they help with reducing the chance of being knocked out and gives you something to nervously chew on on the dummy grid.
Good shoulder/collarbone protection too. Be that some pads on the belts, a sheep skin or padded rugby shoulder pads under your suit. All are good options.

Go to your closest track and ask some/several Stockcar drivers what they use. Some will have different preferences or what they are comfortable with. Must be within SNZ rules. Make sure you fit the seat well and are comfortable in seating position.

www.lrg.co.nz/collections/speedway-race-gear-helmets-radios These guys have all the gear, I got the Simpson helmet from racetech and it came with the hybrid also, and overalls from vortex racewear in Taupo as they seem to have the bigger sizes, I also wear shin pads for the side protection of my ankle

One thing i was told was pad the car out so you don't need to wear pads saves the risk of getting court up trying to get out in a hurry

Awesome great to add another to the ranks
I was a skateboarder so used elbow and knee pads on the right hand side - and an elbow pad on my ankle to protect the leg from bashing the fifth arm.
My old rugby shoulder pads under the overalls for the belt burns.
As above a mouth guard for all the reasons, plus the dirt sprayed into the cockpit.
Most of my pads came after realising after the meeting that I ended up with a bruise on the elbow, knee or ankle from basking something that I didn’t realise was close enough to bash.
