The transition between the 2 'meetings' is going to be interesting, not an easy task to empty the venue and get everyone to reenter at the same time, aswell as the carpark situation with people just wanting to watch part of the day.

Goodness, that is going to make a very looooong day. As the holder of only a qualifying night GA ticket (they weren't selling finals night ones at the gate when I purchased mine) I'm picking they will have to empty the spectator area after qualifying has been completed and then commence readmittance with the appropriate finals night ticket required. They cannot refuse admittance to holders of qualifying night tickets as they have paid to see that but how do you get them out after qualifying has finished and they have seen all that they have paid for? Maybe they make it a condition of entry that you must have tickets for both nights before you pass through the turnstiles but then you might get some cantankerous old bugger that only wants to watch the qualifying, ditto holders of different reserved seating numbers for each night. Still I'm going to enjoy myself, especially if the Thai Food Caravan is in attendance. Still mourning the disappearance of the superb Chixieland but the Thai girls large serving option certainly fills the stomach, unless of course you have to take on enough fuel to fill a Two Bums sized gut!

Apparently 11 drivers have pulled out so far but no indication of what ones yet. So the groups are being reshuffled this morning.

Cool by hawkes bay standards. Not as hot as Friday or Saturday. As I was typing this the sun came out. There's heat in that sun.
Is it possible to change groups so much so that they now run 5 groups. And do away with the repercharge and just run a finals field of 25 cars. Makes life so much easier for all enjoyed if they could.

I think a repechage is essential as it gives those that might miss out due to back luck or damage in the heats at least a slim chance of making the big dance. Any idea how many qualifying groups there might be now? It was six in the programme but that might have changed give the circumstances.

Any idea how many qualifying groups there might be now? It was six in the programme but that might have changed give the circumstances. Still six groups, 5 of 20 cars and 1 of 21 cars. So they could have late-changed it to 5 groups with 4 x 24 and 1 x 25 but I guess maybe that was more trouble than what it was worth at this late stage. Even before the overnight withdrawal of 9 drivers they could have had 5 groups of 26 cars (130 after vehicle checking), but you can really only go format your meeting based on the entry list. Hopefully time won't be an issue later this afternoon. The 1pm start won't be happening either, as they're waiting for all of the grids to be sorted and loaded into the ELS etc. Barry B
