I know this car is buried deep in a tony mac thread somewhere, but its up for sale as a roller on trademe for $1000. seems a shame to see such an unusaual and historic car still battling around-hope it doesnt get chopped up!

Oops -$1500 now. This is the car that the wards had in palmy for a while as 42p and now has a ford y body. Just off topic-but still in historic wellington mode- there was an i-spy thread back in the day with a picture of an old chev coupe steel body that had been found in wgtn and was supposed to be restored as 83w (Gil Mallia's car?) did it ever happen?

Wal86 may know for sure, but I doubt it, 90% of those projects never get done, at least in the first 20 years after they are mooted.
I hope the TMac Coupe gets restored, or at least raced without being too chopped around.

This was an easy car to track for most of its life because it stayed in the lower North Island and kept the coupe body until recently. Was built by Gary Parkes to a Tony Mac design, that was then repeated and modified in the early 1990's, to the point where the Wildcats consisted solely of Tony Mac flat chassis. From memory, Steve King purchased it off Paul Bouzaid, but I could be wrong there. 2003/04 season 2006/07 season - the Coupe body replaced with a Ford Why The pic of Eddie Hawkins is a different car (built 2 years later)

Can't you re modify the roll cage a bit? That car would look awesome with a coupe body again.

the only way for me to put a coupe body back on it would be to make the back bumper stick out about another 6-8inches. or else it would get destroyed anytime i was hit from behind. it would look pretty cool though

Hey mate-if you look in the historic stockcars thread, the 1H ex Kevin Free/replica is a imp body. There are a few other cars with the coupe body complying with the new rollcage rules. I thing the 71A car has one.

All is good with this car it is sitting in my shed and is being restored to its former glory (as it was built Coupe Body, Chev Motor and all) I have chopped the Fraud Why Rollcage off and am now getting sorted with the rebuild. The next time the car hits the track it will be as a Classic StockCar and its history will set in concrete and will escape the the car crusher . Cheers Trev.
p.s. If any one has any info or know if the extractors are still lying around in someones shed i would love to here from you. PM me or EMail t-rev@xtra.co.nz
