well this will be a short report as the car did not last long,
after talking to Brendon the Auckland Saloon rep last week at the NZ champs we headed off to try our luck at Waikaraka Park for the 1st time this season, after looking at the entry list late in the week it looked like i would be the only vistor but late entries from clubmates Aaron Tonks and Steve Williams saw 3 Huntly cars take on aucklands finest,
after a loverly show put on in the pits by some tv show it was time to get into business and wheel packing, we were race 6 on the programme,
1st race and i drew grid 3, off the start and i was off after the pole sitter 75a, Louden and Towgood were gone from the outside but i was pretty comfortable in 4th, after a couple of half assed attempts at a pass on the 75a the yellows came out, i gave myself a good talking to in the slow laps and knew i had to harden up and get to the outside, so about 2 laps later i managed to get a pass on the 75a car around 1 and 2, i did not get a chance to set off after the fast disappearing 9a as a lap and a half later my driveshaft broke coming off turn, with no drive i was thankful that everyone missed me before i got to the infield,
i was told that i had water leaking out by the infield staff but as we to back to the pits we noticed it was fuel from a ruptured hose, a huge thanks to the Murray Tonks and the rest of Aaron's crew for helping us get it sorted out before something major happened,
so with way to much damage to fix we were out for the night, i got to watch the next 2 races for the show 21H and 48a put on, great watching, huge congrats go to 61a Roy Walker for a great drive in the final race, holding out Steve and giving Phil a hard time for a lot of laps as well,
if i can get the car fixed and a start i hope to back at Baypark on the 27th,
i wish everyone on here a Merry Christmas and good luck to everyone racing though the break,
cheers
