I would like to know what people think about this.Minisprint.Is it time that we got rid of that name mini out of this class? When people ask what do i race and i tell them a minisprint the first thing they say is "Cool i used to own a 1973 mini miner".Then i would say "No it is a speedway car".Then they would say "Wow i did not know that they race minis anymore".You see what iam saying.People dont know that theres are full on money sucking, gas it up racecars.I had a kid ask me how old do you have to be to race a minisprint becouce he thought that they were like ministocks a kids class. So how about we find a new name for this class. Here a some that i heard when we were up in the U.S:Midget lights,Sprint lights. They did not spell ligthts like that i cant spell ;D So how about it race fans give me more names.Nice mames dont put anthing dumbass down.

dont try and piggy-back off sprint cars, minisprints(as they are now known as) are a winged, underpowered midget(or speedcar, as the aussies call them), so maybe flying midget,,,or winged speedies ::)hmmm, no easy answer

Hi Reece, Good thread !
I have always hated names than have given the impression that a class is inferior by having the words (Mini this or Standard that or the worst limited) etc.
It does nothing for the Class and makes it hard to promote or sell to sponsors or our punters through the gate.
Heres 1 for you "SPORT SPRINTS" robbed form the old Modified Sportsmen days

I think this same question came up a couple of years ago and it went round and round in ever decreasing circles until it disappeared with no result. I don't see anything wrong with piggy backing the name off the Sprint cars, looking at them their appearance is similar with high bar chassis, tail tanks, main wing, nose wing etc - kind of like Sprint Cars little brother.

A similar discussion came up amongst the Modified Sprints as they find their name is too similar to the Modifieds. Funnily enough most of the names mentioned have also been suggested for the Modified Sprints. Micro sprints in the US are 2 stroke mini versions of minisprints designed for teens. Modified Sprints are called 1200 Outlaw Sprints or Minisprints. I my experience it doesnt matter what you call your class, to a non speedway or motorsport person they are going to associate it to the closest thing they know.
