Sorry people, to start another thread on the 240's. I haven't got alot of time to view all the views on the 240's. I have been away from a computer since Thurs. I have also made some comments re super stock and contact.
All may have been said in previous threads, and if so I aploigise. I wasn't expecting hits like the Hamton vs Collingwood one. The final was brilliant. The races before OK.
I really thort that if 4 of the 6 top places heading into race 3 were Palmy cars they would have won, if not got on the podium. They wer marked men but, so was Frankie amd Stan. Palmy again didn't get to the podium, and one of the best hit men (miers) raced round and round to win rather than take people out. I realise he helped Bengston re-start but could he have done more, or the other P cars that fell by the way side attack.
4 in the top 6 and they cudn't get 1 to the podium, whats with that

Yeah.. at the end of the day it dosent really matter who was on the podium, they all worked hard, there was alot of stories that went on that night. 1nz was a prime example, out after heat one nearly a lap down and still got 3rd.. Top 5 seperated by 4 points.
Palmy, no drama's its not a bad thing that they are not getting titles, im a mad supporter but love it when any driver is up there. speaking of which was great to see Pat up there!
the 58p would have won or 2nd place had he not been a lap down. What Scottie did for him was awesome and we were stoked the 58p got 4th
The whole event is magic and well run, a must for a calender season if you enjoy atmosphere and tough racing... Im already counting down till next year.. a few million to go... see you at the 10 count

Like it should be. The hit furosity of the Hampton hit was not expected, but I thought P cars would have done more and that has come from my past posts that suggest drivers can use their bumpers to effect a result rather than dive bombing them.
Spectacular to see, but it comes with a cost. Hence my views get in someones face and effect a result without winding them off the straight at close to 100km's.

Kia ora Sonic, I agree with you in that it was very unusual to see Scottie Miers take the chequered flag in a finals heat when there were podium positions up for grabs. Past experience has always shown that the P cars support each other in the finals heats better than many other cities, but a strange new precedent was set at the NZ Champs earlier in the year with what happened between Hemi and Rees. I also agree with Marty that it was a wierd and very eventful race. Green flags and green lights.

Spectacular to see, but it comes with a cost. Hence my views get in someones face and effect a result without winding them off the straight at close to 100km's. It's stock car racing and straightlining is an integral part of the sport and the spectacle. The drivers know it and are willing to do it, and in fact the most serious injuries over the last few years have had nothing to do with being run off the end of the straight. If that doesn't sit will with you then race in a non-contact class. That said I do feel that the stockcar classes are getting too fast for their own safety - standard stocks today are as quick as A-grades a decade ago. SNZ probably needs to address that with some rule changes to slow things up which should reduce injuries and lower costs both of which would be good for the sport as a whole.

I's all good and spectacular in my opinion, just don't like to see the drivers hurt.
The speeds are certainly very fast, in cars that don't give much, to be putting in those hits. I am all for the big hits, but it's not my body on the line.
As said in other threads best wishes and full and speedy recoveries.

I was watching and waiting for the P cars to take some action to get the 58p car on the top step. 58p was in the lead with the 8p covering him but they were victim of one of the best double blocks I've ever seen by the poms. One held up the 8p and the other took out the 58p at the same time. ( check those cars for intercoms ;D) For most of the final race the "rest" were occupying the P cars, making it difficult for them to do any effective blocking.
One of the best races I've seen for a long time, both tacticly and action wise. When does the video come out? I could watch it every day.

Kia ora Paul, I agree. It was a classic 240's final heat. I am sure the video will show many hits that were very tactical and strategic rather than rushes of blood to the head. Not only do these drivers have the best machinery and skills but they have the nouse to go with it. The Valley of Paradise track also seems to be ideal for such drivers. Green flags and green lights
