The 9W incendent, we would loved to of being able to pull the body work off his car so he could carry on racing But that is outside assissants. There would have been protests from all directions and outside assissants is not allowed. End of problem. Oh yes of course, forgot about the outside assistance, my apologies

And is it just me, or does it seem such a shame to see Maurice Cowling struggling around the back of the feild in his late model type car, we all know he's so much better than this... This season they have struggled with that car, it doesn't seem to have the rear end fowards grip the other car had, instead they seem to have issues with it having to much rear end sideways bite, it has been up on 2 wheels alot of times and has been closing to going right over on a couple.

Certainly was a night of mixed fortunes as is normal on these big occations but theres no doubt awell deserved win for McIntyre again. He did all the hard work early on posting the fastest qualifying time then with inverted grid draws having to pass cars inthe heat & dash to earn that front row grid in the final. After beating Burson to the first corner he just had to stay tidy which he did, infact gradually pulled away till the next yellows came out. Would have been interesting if there was more drive in the outer groove with Mark Orchard (61M) making good progress back in the field earning a well deseved 3rd. Can't wait to see him at the NI's in Gisborne. Certainly hope Emmo can get that engine repaired for next week as well. Sounds like Paddy North & Ray Stewart are starters for Gissy too ?. Hope so promises to be another good nite of super saloon racing

Mark has been having a good season at BP this year and I'm glad he got third. I have been impressed with his outside passing and the power he able to transfer into drive. So it was good to see him (what i did see) out mixing it up with Shane Mc, Waddell and the other top drivers from north and south.

Was a great nite. Cant comment on the crowd size as havent been to other meetings this season. The track just got better throughout the nite, there was some excellent racing in the Supers abd the facilities are first class. We hope to get back soon but will have to rely on the good people at Macgors to keep us updated. Unfortunately didnt get to meet or see any Macgorians but Tracy got her NZ Super tshirt signed by 1NZ,2NZ. Her verdict : Shane ( nice guy), Dean ( a real gentleman, he is lovely ). An excellent nite and good value, thanks BP

At the risk of being shot down in flames I have to say what I thought about this meeting. Sadly well below expectations. All the lovely days we have had here had taken there toll on the track. Got there at about 5.30 not a water truck in sight. On the walk round to my seat you could see cracks in the clay out by the fence like a dried up lake bed. If they wanted that track to survive a night of fat wheels it would have to be pretty slushy at the start of the night. Anyone who has read on here about the rough track at BP must have been wondering what people were talking about as it was super smooth. Why? , because it was so dry. It is even mentioned on this thread that it was a good drivey track. Well at BP when you have a drivey track you can drive anywhere on it and be competitive, as the photo in the programme of super saloons racing 4 wide supports. This is no slight on any of the drivers as they can only race on what is dished out to them, but unfortunately most of the night was follow the leader. The good thing is that most of the visitors on this thread seem to be happy. One last thing did anyone apart from Mark Orchard pass anyone in that last race. (Not counting Dean Waddell going backwards at a great rate of knots when he decided to see if the centre of the track had anything to offer.) Thanks to all the out of town drivers maybe next time we will offer you a track where fortune favours the brave, high wide and foot to the floor.
Peter

I thought the meeting was good. (not great but good).
Glad the went to only two heats and not the three that was on the entry form. Good on the outsiders that made the effort
Roll on Gizzy.
Rumours of a pending hearing that I heard last week seem unfounded after talking to the drivers on Saturday. Darn shame bout Emmo, was looking forward to him racing ay BP and then on to Gizzy

Snoggrat, I am not sure how many other tracks you have been to this season but when Shane Maaka says the track was drivey then I am sorry but you are in the minority. If anyone knows about drivey tracks then shane does. Yes it wasnt 100% for the feature but it was the best BP track I have attended in the times I have been to BP. The water truck was definitely circulating when we arrived at 4pm. I will admit that the water truck didnt go round as much as I thought it needed to ( and only round the pole line during racing ) but the track was much better than I thought it might be. Perhaps if there was more water put on the outside of the track then there might have been more passing in the feature but again that track was good and much better than I was anticipating. If you and some of the local fans say that the meeting was average or below expectations then you are are in a very fortunate position as I have been to tracks this season where the meetings were much more underwhelming. Yes there were things that could have been better eg the programme at $4 didnt seem to be any different than other weekly programmes and there was no tshirts or caps to buy for this event but what great facilities. The thing that disappoints me is that it seems to be NZs best keep speedway secret and if there was more promotion outside Tauranga ( and at very liitle cost with a decent BP website and using the wonderful Macgors website to promote ) then it could be even better. We will definitely be back and I am glad that we didnt miss Saturday nite. Another plus is seeing the speed that the Sprintcars achieve at BP, faster than at any other track and when Skinny drove away from the pack in the first heat both Trace and I went wow. We will be back !

At the risk of being shot down in flames I have to say what I thought about this meeting. Sadly well below expectations. Has could be seen in my other posts I also agree. Perhaps we are a bit spoilt having a handful of the best super saloon drivers in the country regularily putting on a show for us week in, week out. But I too felt the meeting wasn't what it could have been. It had the potential, had the track been like it had been for the past 4 or 5 meetings, to be the best super saloon racing this country has ever seen. But due to the lack of mid track and high line bite, the b main and feature left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. I felt like i'd watched better racing in the past 4 or 5 meetings than I did on saturday night.

Snoggrat, I am not sure how many other tracks you have been to this season but when Shane Maaka says the track was drivey then I am sorry but you are in the minority. If anyone knows about drivey tracks then shane does. When the Baypark track is "BAYPARK DRIVEY" then a number of sprintcars pull impressive wheel stands every race, didn't see too much wheel lifting on saturday night from anyone other than Maurice Cowling (as to be expected)

Hey strx7 I bow to you and snoggrat for your experience with BP tracks. Sounds like it has definitely improved in recent times. Look forward to getting back for "Baypark drivey"

This season the surface has been pretty consistant. I'm out there 4 times a night (or more on the big sprintcar meets) starting the guys off and I get to feel the track rather than just witness it from the stands. Generally if it looks ROUGH from where you sit, its twice that bad when you're driving on it.

Not sure where you sat Rebel1, but the true sprinters speed becomes even more real when close to the fence at 3/4 down the straight just before the hiff. Seriously mindblowing.
The track seemed smoother but meant not all over drive. Not bad for a track that was running 3 large hp and big wheeled classses. Bumpy at bp seems drivey, smooth at bp seems slick.

Hi sonic33. Was at the end of the back straight just before turn three about halfway up the grandstand. The perception of speed at this point was huge. I have no doubt it is even greater at ground level. It must be extraordinary in the car !
