After reading all the fors and against on the other board I want to know if you were a Referee/SNZ what do you think would be a Fair Punishment for the inicdent that happened in Wellington.
To refresh your memory here is the link And remember the referee only gets to see this once in real time.
Rule G7-4-2 (pg 43-44) A Referee may:Issue a reprimand Fine up to $100 (Championship) Exclude a Competitor for up to 15days Relegate a Competitor Or Refer a competitor to the Board (Then its up to SNZ Board to decide punishment)
Would also be intresting what Super/Stockcar drivers in perticular think a fair punishment would be.
I dont want this thread to be a "slanging match" just want thorts on penalties

Having looked at the clip, without over analysing, no punishment required, didnt see cheating there. Not a rule expert but from what I saw, a car out wide dive bombs someone on the pole line, hit car goes on infield as a result of contact, comes back on track and exacts revenge. The knocked car didnt appear to lay in wait or deviate in any way from its path caused from the original contact.I didnt think the hit car was at any stage hiding on the infield. It was meerly continuing its tragectory set by the original contact.

Yes , chances are he had no brakes and little steering due to the right front damage. If he was trying to take Rees out for real the power would have been on at wall impact time . Mountains out of molehills is my feeling . Still might have been a bit naughty though so appease everyone by slapping a $50 fine on him .

I refrained from commenting on the "other" thread, but here's my thoughts, never having been a speedway competitor. The on-the-night penalty was sufficient and appropriate.
As an aside, the next time Peewee and Beatle are on the same track, no prizes for guessing where all eyes will be! And isn't that kind of rivalry just what speedway needs?

The word "cheating" provokes images of deliberately breaking the rules to gain an advantage.
It seems Beatle didn't make a conscious decision to break the rules, it just happened, as things do.
Not being allowed to finish the night's racing was enough, time to let it go.

Beatle didn't dive for the infield, he was forced.
Beatle didn't drive across the corner, he turned right at the first opportunity.
Beatle did take peewee to the wall from the grass, as he still had one wheel on the grass at first contact (but only just)
Enough has been done already.

Did Wayne Hemi get a punishment after last night?
I think he had 4 wheels on the grass when he drilled FWJ in the opening heat.
Whats worse was FWJ has 4 wheels on the grass as well?!
It all happened in front of me, the red waka poked his nose up the inside of the pack, drove accross the grass, saw fwj and accelerated straight through him. Was one of the biggest hits on the grass i've seen!

ok like getting blood out of a stone. did didnt . lets put it this way . if he had mechanical failure .ie no steering or brake issues & was towed off .ok would have been deemed a racing incident .no penilties. if he drove away & a broken shock is not going to stop him .has no steering or brake problems .he has attacked from the infeild .penilty what ever it was applies. what he should have done .come back onto track turned left done 1 car lenght & then turned right .so if i was ref that would have been my decision . now wheres my hip flask ;D hic

I didn't comment on this last time coz the thread got so long but I will now seeing as it's been started up again ;D I think I'm with the majority on here who think that:
1. He got a fair penalty.
2. It seemed to be overhyped in the original thread to the point that I was expecting to see him cut through the infield to the other side of the track just to put the hit in.
3. The apparent actions of some people in the pits should cause more concern than a split second decision on the track
Pointless I know, coz everyone else has said it but just didn't want to be left out ;D
