You're not wrong donk - the guy is quickly becoming a legend. He's also won the two premier club events at Palmerston North - the Robin Pratt Memorial (stockcars) and the Manawatu Superstock Champs. If he can add a fourth consecutive Superstock Teams Champs title next weekend....

I realise the above list is just this season alone but add to that he already has 4 consecutive Auckland Teams nats titles 1 x Waikato, 3 x Panthers looking for #5 there this year. Plus 2 x Teams titles with the Pumas and one of 3 people to win both Stockcar and Superstock Teams. Also been 2nz Superstock

already a legend ?,
agreed, I think it would already be safe to assume that he's going to go down as one of the greats of the sport, and he's only 38 I think I heard, so there's more to come yet.

You're not wrong donk - the guy is quickly becoming a legend. Quickly becoming a legend??? Yup the All Blacks doing the haka is becoming a tradition The Superbowl is becoming the biggest day in sports Winston Peters is becoming anonymous and Lynyrd Skynyrd are becoming the best rock 'n roll band ever about 8 years ago Pete Rees was becoming a legend, about 6 years ago he became a legend... Today I have seen nothing that would suggest otherwise .... IMHO as always

Some people can spot them early.....when he placed third in the 1999/00 Manawatu Stockcar Champs (in his flat chassis Std Stock), he was presented the sash by the late Spike Richardson.
Spike mentioned over the PA that he believed Pete would end up being bigger than Dave Evans. At the time I thought "yeah right", but now..........hmmm its still The General by a car length, but I reckon he's got a Rees/Nissan bearing down on him as he enters turn 3!

Well said Your Chief Executiveness! Peter Rees is likely to become the best competitor of his generation, as were Big Bad Charlie and Dave Evans before him. But it's hard to compare generations - I mean, how would Charlie have gone in the Savell's Sound Centre #3 tank, and how would Sammy have fared in a Rees spacey with a Hartley Nissan V8? We can only speculate!

This fella must be a real flag chaser LOL Lol, you tell him that ;D He once told me the best piece of advice he had was from Dave Evans, who told him to hit when you need or want to, but also take the money and the win when you can. The best drivers can flagrace OR hit, not just specialise in one or the other...

And lets not forget the success and popularity of the cars he builds!! By my primitive calculations 8 of the 30 finalists at the NZ Champs were Rees chassis, and 1 other was 80% finished by him - which is pretty impressive.
