I have been at baypark a few times this season and from majority of the vechiles towed off they are put on the verge of the infield and the pole line. why dose this happen. the infield is used as a rugby field over winter but what would you see happen more carnage take place or grass look lush and green.

How much,if any carnage has taken place?
Based on your theory in regards danger,what are your feelings about people being on the infield?.

we are not allowed to drive on the infield. if we wreck the grass we get fined.
if we get a flat tyre, we have to cruise to the side of the infield and we have to be towed off, and usually the tractor does more damage to the car than the actual flat tyre!
the green grass is very precious......

Tell that to Barry Brown or any number of people who have had near misses well clear of the pole line while being on the infield....add yourself to the list come to think of it. As for the Baypark situation hes making a mountain out of a mole hill,especially when he highlights danger and carnage.

In my case, standing approx 4m from the pole line with eyes in the back of my head, watching a spinning midget to see exactly how he was going to turn before calmly (but rapidly) taking a few steps backwards. I usually shoot further away than that. One of the other infield photographers got a beaut shot of me doing it. I'd like to get that framed. Barry's most recent iirc he was pretty much dead centre of the infield and for a car to go out of control through there is a very rare occurance. If the risk actually bothered infield staff, they wouldn't do it. if every one on the infield didnt evaluate the hazards around them there'd be at least one accident a week. Probably more. I've noticed that there are a handfull of people who if they had their way there would be nobody on infields at all... fire crews just standing on the sidelines watching cars burn until the coast was clear... thered be no photography (video is normally shot from outside anyway).. no one to pick up the broken pieces left on the track during a lot of races leaving bits to flick up into the crowd... no flaggies to put the flags out for the benefit of the drivers who didn't see the orange lights... no referrees to pull a dangerous looking car with damage to the left hand side to the infield before something comes loose and dongs someone on the head. And yet you say having people out in the middle is dangerous? I wouldnt even stand in the crowd if there werent people doing infield work - that would be courting suicide.

You've got the wrong end of the stick Ed.
What i was getting at,was the fact that zero carnage has happened at Baypark due to the location of cars on the infield and if #1 thought that the situation was dangerous,i wanted to see what his thoughts were on people on the infield and whether he thought that was as dangerous as his theory over the location of cars.
