well,,,,,,,,,,,,,licence and mebership same for all classes,bout$300 i think,if you do workin bees you get a pit pass saving entry fee every night you race, there is no prize money!!!!!!i brought my first esky for $600 and reshelled it. this season we were told we HAD to run transponders,$500,but only 4 of us got them and no disadvantages to those who didnt get on(my wife is not happy at all,$500 buys a few blocks of cheese) as for maintance costs theres a few factors,ie,how relible your car is,how much you crash etc, youll need helmet ,suit, neckbrace, gloves, then theres tearoffs, gas, trailer(and maintances)+ are you goin to build or buy your car? in the 5 years ive been doin it,ive spent,belts$150,trailer$500(built my self),gloves boots &neckbrace $250?paint grinding discs etc$300,body's/parts$500(used to get escort shells and bits for nothing).alot depends on how much you do your self, prodys would have to be the cheapest motorsport out there, but being a feeder class track time is not that great,99% of the people ive meet doin this are great,pm me if you wana come chat cheers.....scott 11w

Hi Mate,
Fees is 350 i think for the year, includes snz license so you can race anywhere (some of us go to wanganui regularly), if ya do the working bees (3 minimum) you get in for free + a crewmate I think. Gas is about $10 bucks a nite for race car plus tow car though.
Its great fun, although racing has been a little sparse this year( the rain offs didn't help this) and ya couldn't ask for a better bunch of blokes to race with.
What sort of car are you lookin at?, I know of a good escort for sale.
Cheers

yeah was looking at the 28w on trade me but wife wants to know what the ongoing costs would be to run and maintain all the other gear is a one off cost until you replace it(i.e safety gear, trailer,so on)and track fees so now i this will help sway wife's mind already crewing on a stocky but would love to get some track time.another question is what engines can be run in them i was under the impression it had to be factory of can it be any motor of same make???

You can run any engine installed in that model, duration cams I think, extractors and freeflow on non efi.
Maintanance costs are pretty mimimal although a bit of rebending is required occasionally lol

It can be a cheap sport if you make yourself be careful. But... you have fun even if you do bend it.
There are a couple or RWD cars for sale here in Gisborne. Mk3 Cortina 4.1 with belts, (and helmet/ overalls/ neckbrace I think) for around $7-800 Also a newly built (this season) 2.5 Skyline for sale. Also 3 FWDs for sale too if interested. Good prices. PM me and I will get their details for you.
