I don't think I'm jumping down anyone's throat, just enforcing some of the rules we have on the board.
Macgors NZ Speedway Discussion board now has at least 2,400 registered users with countless others who frequent the boards but have not registered. This has been achieved though the hard work and dedication of a man who has committed thousands of hours to making this board the success it is.
From a commercial perspective that traffic is worth money in terms of advertisers being able to expose products to users.
The situation, from a commercial perspective, is like a shopping mall. If you were to set up a stall in the middle of a shopping mall and try offering jobs you would be turfed out by security in no time. That's because you're trying to use the shopping mall's foot traffic to sell your product. The same reasoning applies in an online sense, contributors trying to make use of online traffic generated by Macgor.
I don't have any problem with speedway people trying to help out other speedway people, of course it's something to be encouraged. But where do you draw the line? The job in question is not speedway related. Next someone else will come along and advertise their second hand vehicle business. Then the next guy comes along and signs up to the board for the purpose of advertising. The the next guy goes a step further.
The line has to be drawn somewhere and it has been drawn at no advertising. The only exception to this that I am aware of is for the Macgor T-Shirts which I believe was done with the consent of Macgor.
Yes we do have off topic posts from time to time on the discussion board. However if there is any advertising going on it has been deleted.
Sorry for making such a big deal about your posting Kiwiinoz but we need to clarify the situation for everyone. Hopefully Macgor will see this and do just that because I think it's got to the point where a policy on Advertising is required to aid clarification.
Hope that helps to explain
