Well done Scott Dixon. ;D It is great to see motorsport getting recognised for a change. ;D Although the darn stick & ball game fraternity wouldn't be happy with it.

I recken Scott Dixon was defintly ripped off for the overall title,Id be interested to know who makes the decisions re who wins what etc...Are they all former commonwealth and Olympic Games representitives ?? Maybe if Scott can repeat last yrs feat we could get a panel of judges from motorsport circles to decide on the winner

It's nearly always the "popular sports" or Olympic events that win.
A few years ago the mens Softball team won the world champs 3 or 4 years in a row. They hardly got a mention. What about the Kiwis beating Oz? Something against all odds (no-one bar the Mad Butcher thought they'd win) yet they didn't win the teams prize (at least they got nominated I suppose). What is the criteria for winning? I reckon it has more to with who you know than what you've done.
But anyway, well done to Scott. He did deserve it.

After a really crappy year they pulled together (yes the pun was intended ;D ) and defended their Olympic crown.

To be fair Formula 1 is the pinnacle and Indycar is now a distant second since the sport split and then came back together.
It's hard for Scott to compete against World Champions when he himself doesn't compete against the best.

what about kenny smith a legend of nz motorsport ,long overdue for an award , many drivers owe him so much , scott dixon would have got nowhere without his guidence nor hartley..can you see the current crop still racing and winning at 67 ..i think not

Ok Scott has done something no other Kiwi has, once......
Valarie did the world ALL year long, something no shot putter has done before drugs.
Hence she is still a couple metres short of a world record throw.
If Scott had total dominance of the track maybe he would have a look in.
He was very close but not total.
