Any Saloon drivers out their looking for a skid this weekend please contact the club sec Angela Land 0272467000 or club president Grant McGregor 0274452551 before Wednesday as this is when the club will make it's decision. Travel of $100 will be paid for each car prize money has been increased to $1000 for the winner, 600, 400, and 100 for 4th-8th. Their will be an extra race worth $500 in prize money for a 4th race which will be for the Bruce Ellmers Memorial Trophy.

At this stage the club require more entries if this meeting is to go ahead this Saturday night ... Travel of $100 will be paid for each car prize money has been increased to $1000 for the winner, 600, 400, and 100 for 4th-8th. Their will be an extra race worth $500 in prize money for a 4th race which will be for the Bruce Ellmers Memorial Trophy. The size of the prize money is the main reason 13r has chosen not to enter this event, and I, possibly, would be one of Gizzy's biggest supporters and most disappointed not to be there! In the future, I suggest, to secure more entries from saloon drivers, increase the travel allowance to better reflect costs incurred to travel and stay over (minimum $400), and reduce the prize amounts and differentials. You'll end up with more cars, closer racing and fewer protests. Most saloon competitors are on a tight budget and generally receive little, if any, support by way of sponsors and or prize money payouts.

You don't have to spend money staying in Motels. There are plenty of friendly people that are happy for drivers and crew to stay with them. If you need a bed just ask and I'm sure we can find some.

My thoughts are very similar to Murrays, and we would have probably supported the meeting as we have in the past ,but it clashes with beating up the women at Stratford which we have also supported in the past. As for the traveling not that many Saloons travel to far. And as Murray points out the cost of travel, accom and running cost are all fairly similar . But the faster cars get the most prize money and probably cover their costs quite often, but without us slow fellas to pass, theres not much of a race. So better travel less prize could work ,most of us try to win even if it's just for a moro bar . Cheers 77k

WELL PUT....Murray and rossco,With the ever increasing travel cost's,and employment the way it is ,i to feel that more travel money is required for the car's on the move.It seem's more the traveling is to win the big prize money,NOT TO SUPPORT THE CLUB'S that puts up a good venue, atmosphere, etc.what's wrong with the way speedway was guy's

Totally agree with Rossco, Murray & Muzz. After travelling around the south island on the Interislander and then doing the DHL, plus off to Napier for the North Islands at the end of the month, our piggy bank is well and truly empty! Do hope this event is run though as Gizzy is a great track. Louana - 59a
