can't understand how a sprintcar fan could get excited over modifieds. Moifieds are so slow boring and downright ugly. That should read "Sprintcar fans are slow boring and downright ugly" I think.

can't understand how a sprintcar fan could get excited over modifieds. Moifieds are so slow boring and downright ugly. change the record for gods sake Getting really boring reading your dribble Magilla - Youll soon get to learn around THIS forum that you cant speak your mind without getting shot down very quickly (especially if youre an open-wheeler fan) I cant really comment on this season - I havent been anywhere in the South where the modifieds have run (do they actually still run?) but I will say that overall the sprintcars down here this season havent really been anything spectacular - I often found the battles in the T.Q's more enthralling! I used to really enjoy the modifieds (a close second after the Sprintcars) but due to constant (shall we say) attacks from members of this forum (pre-openwheeler) I have very little time for those tracks that do run modifieds anymore! So wouldnt know the slightest about them at the moment... Clash of dates??? Last I heard the sprintcars werent even confirmed!!! I really think the BIGGER issue is the fact that they are in the same Island.....if they were scheduled on the same night yet one in each Island it wouldnt be such an issue..... Believe it or not Magilla there are people who are (or in my case WERE) open to all forms of speedway - especially when a National Title is at stakes....... Given the chance I would attend both championships (dependant on gate costs and whether I could be bothered sitting through the support classes) But I guess in the end the "entry lists" will more than likely be the decision maker for me - should they definately end up on the same nights eg. rather watch 30 odd modifieds battle it out over 20 sprintcars - or vice versa!!!! Sdemon

can't understand how a sprintcar fan could get excited over modifieds. Moifieds are so slow boring and downright ugly. now that is uncalled for. im a big fan of both i want to go to both titles, but IF THEY clash il be at the modified champs. and modifieds look way better than a sprint car. and besides at least the modified drivers dont drive like karen forsey!!

3 NZ Titles in the South Island next season being held at Woodford Glen, Cromwell and Ruapuna. I think it would be to the benefit of all three tracks to have the titles close together as I believe a number of spectators would attend two, if not three meetings. Here is my proposed schedule 8/9 January Woodford Glen NZ Modified Title 11/12 January Cromwell NZ Sprintcar Title 15/16 January Ruapuna NZ TQ Title (+ Sprintcars) Should work with Western Springs as they normally run Jan 2nd(ish) and then late January. A good bit of thinking there and should suit fans of all classes involved. Southern fans tend to enjoy more of a variety in their speedway fixes. BUT will logic get in the way?

Fair call Jamo can't understand how a sprintcar fan could get excited over modifieds. Moifieds are so slow boring and downright ugly. I don't see what the problem is. completely different classes with completely different fan bases. Like I said in another thread, and Il stand by it again...and post it again.... Now that would have to be the lowest blow of all.. ...I dont go to Western Springs, but I do enjoy watching the open class when they race at other tracks that I go to IE; Huntly, Kihikihi etc. The racing is fast and great, but I DO NOT INSULT THEM. I so hope you were taking the PI55....if you wernt get a flipping life.............And I dare you to tell ANY MOD DRIVER in NZ that they are ,
slow ugly and boring they are.
TRIPLE DARE YOU

;D given that SNZ have approved plenty of other date clashes (this years NZ Sprintcars & Midgets for example) I say whats the drama? do Sprintcar and Modified people really see a conflict? how many people does it effect- a couple of hundred and 1 or 2 drivers (and maybe SNZ directors who might miss out of a trip to one or the other? I think an Easter NZ Championship would be dumb!no room to move if it snows in Central! Why not a week earlier for Cromwell if SNZ says no...screw the North Islands International series- perhaps it should start a week earlier you really think Easter is dumb, next years Easter dates are 2, 3, 4th april, very early any the chance of snow is about the same as New years, also the war bird over wanaka are also easter 2010, chance of attaching an even larger audience, and a lot of new comers to teh sport Food for thought Its a no brainer this one, the way I see it any promoter would go for Easter 2010 and work with the promoter of Warbirds Over Wanaka, this event is massive and many of them are petrol heads that would go to Speedway Saturday night rather than sit in a motor-home playing cards and drinking rum. I also heard the Hydroplanes may be running at Cromwell next Easter. Also Easter long weekend allows for a large percentage of the Sprint-cars to make the long road trip south ;D

Having cromwell run at Easter would then create a clash with Harrisville running Winged Thunder 3 (which, after WT2, has had a lot of drivers confirming their return with talk of bringing more with them)
