I'll add many more pics from a fantastic day at Harrisville Winged Thunder II.
Go Slideways went round in 17 seconds
Skinny Colson set a new lap record of 15.493 seconds
Dean Brindle was simply awesome...
Jack Jack was wheelie awesome too...
so was rapid Rob Garrett from Feilding...
To save time asking please note - anyone can use any of my pictures anywhere so long as it's in a positive way & you mention that they were taken by me.
At your request I will take shots of your car at future meetings if you mention the Kihikihi Kings Superstock Team & the mighty Palmerston North Panthers in your articles or websites. Cheers.
Brent Harris is a visionary legend!!! So's Dennis!!!
Most had no mufflers or short ones on.
The wonder of the thunder...
Outlaws? I reckon the the only thing these 2 are missing is the six guns & 10 gallon hats...

Dean Brindle
Dean won a heat & came 2nd to Hans Boere in the big one.
Graham Standring born 1955 making his sprintcar debut 2009 and on his way to a heat win.
Jack Jack Easton ~ not his day but still THE MAN to me. Loud as.
Skinny Colson on his way to setting a new lap record. He flew.
Skinny was the defending champ and had a good day with a heat win and after a torrid battle with #1NZ came 3rd in the big race.
#15 Rob Garrett from Feilding held his head high when he came up against the best in the Land.
The pic below is of Rob and living legend #7 Graham Standring getting the loud pedal all the way down and the resulting tandem wheelie. Very Cool.
Rob won the last heat from Graham in a very exciting race.
Whoops, high speed parking by Peter Huijs gone slideways.. thankfully nobody hurt.
Prior to parking the Ginza cars were mint.
I'm not just a Jack Jack fan, I think Dean Brindle is awesome too.
Crikey, they're all totally awesome!
Close racing at Harrisville all day. What a great venue.
If you haven't been to Winged Thunder 1 or 2, get to #3.
Dean Brindle is not just fast, he's a good bloke too.
I'd love to see good bloke Super Stock drivers I admire like Malcolm Ngatai & Shane Penn do a few laps in a car like Deans...
I'd happily pay to see that!
"LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!!"
A traction engine.
Graham Standring leading the big charge.
... it was a great day.
Jack Jacks mean machine.
Nelson Hartley ~ giving it heaps
The grid position shoot out was very cool. The whole day was.
The therapeutic Winged Thunder of my idols shook the ground
Rob Garrett (from Feilding)
Great to see that Skinny has fully recovered from the big bump at Kihikihi Thunder Sunday. If you've scrolled down this far looking for other classes and classics at Harrisville, keep looking, I'll put something of everything on here.
I liked Skinny's speech and attitude at the end of the day, top bloke.
The winner and new defending champion 35A Hans Boere
Also great to see that Jack Jack Easton is still giving it heaps in his 41st year of motorsport.
He too had a big endo at Kihikihi Thunder Sunday and is still blasting on...........
...with no mufflers................................ HE IS THE MAN.
Martin Halcrow's dedicated crew at work
#75C Kevin Freeman getting ready to fire up
Fired up with the FLAMECRUSHER in pursuit
Graham Standring
Not his car
Sunday at Harrisville & Saturday night at Robertson Holden International Speedway got good coverage in our local paper, The Manawatu Evening Standard.
A good speedway friendly newspaper, I buy it...
The next few shots include the FLAMECRUSHER sponsored #11M driven by Alan Lewis being passed by 11P Ian Easton.
I agree Alan mate, hope there's more than one meeting per year - better still, why not EVERY Sunday.
...I have a dream...
This battle reminded me of that old limmerick:
"Wun Wun was a sprint car, one one was one too, Wun Wun won one race, one one won one too."
I know I'm strange - but I'm happy.
Nominee's for biggest opposite lock slideways action include...
Alan...
...but Jack Jack is still THE MAN to me - he doestn't need corners to get it slideways, this is half way down the back straight at about 100mph. He's neat alright.
YEE HAR!!
The Hans device #35 was very quick indeed.
I still have quite a few more photo's to add, but I need to spend time repairing stockcars over the next day or two.
97P had a LOT of fun at Meeanee last Friday & Saturday night...
If you've scrolled down this far and still haven't seen something you like, change sports.
I'll add more as I can.
Cheers big ears,
