Get your camera and get back there. ;D
You say it is looking in good condition, if so it sounds like a restoration may have finally happened.
The car is a famous one, built by Graeme Stretch, one of the first fully fabricated chassis, 1940 Willys Coupe body, originally powered by a Dodge Flathead 6. Won the first Speedway Control Board NZ Stockcar Championships in 1966 and was #3 painted red. Peter Masden took ownership for the 1967/68 season and painted it green, but was still ocassionally driven by GS. Later powered by an ohv Ford V8. Ended up parked behind a shed for many years after its racing days. Dragged out in 2006 for the Palmy 75th reunion, and a restoration has been planned since then.

There is a restoration planned, however not in the near future. The car has been pulled out of the PN Speedway shed to be re-housed until next year when I will hopefully have some time to start the project. I now have some guys very keen to help, its now just a matter of finding the time. I will keep everyone posted with progress photos once we start. In the meantime if anyone has any photos of it from the day that could be made available it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.......Jake

I went past Palmy Speedway yesterday and this ole girl is sitting outside the workshops in plain view from the roadside and is still in the colours (that the first post at the top pic shows).I havnt got my fone on me to take a pic as its getting fixed(will try to get a pic up when i can) but it is there for all to see,, Looks like it is a Austin A30/A40 body be good to see this fully restored & running

By the way that is a circa 1940 Willys coupe body. Out of the box, 3P Graeme Stretch As it is now.
