Recently I did the exercise to take a trailer across on the Ferry ..
It added about $350 to the bill ...
I have the opurtunity to take a truck with a lockable 20ft container on the back of it.
I need to know who would be keen to put there chair in the back of so can book the ferry early to save some coin.

Hi Ratboy, what day are you looking at taking the ferry across the Strait, assume also you would be hanging around for the G P in Cromwell etc etc. if you could put up an itinery that would be helpfull. May also take into account a rain out at cromwell so your around for the Sunday, at that time of the year not likely just something else to consider ;D ;D ;D

Keen for the whole road trip ... Looking at taking Damo and Honk to jump over some cars to help pay for ROAD TRIP  Also taking some Disco Gear to do some gigs at pubs on the way  well be there drinkin anyway ... Basicly the plan is leave Gis ... Pick up Chairs on way down ... Hit Invercargill Thurs AM Rock up to Queenstown following FRI Cromwell Sat then home after that ... If can get some jumping gigs or Disco gigs in Dunedin or CHCH in between then thats us ... Looking at a working hoilday ... NOT looking to make money just pay for road trip ... ;D ;D Ferry / Truck / k's / Gas etc is bout 3K for whole trip so Think bout $200 MAX a bike Depending on how many bike prob min would be 4 or 5. just enough for ferry ... |

Sound like a few crews cant do both events, maybe time off work, maybe money in travel, NOT SURE
Just surfin around, maybe this might be an option.
Send your bike down with another crew and then 'Hitch a Ride" with others from Invercargill to Cromwell
Air New Zealand Flights
Thursday 11 February 2010 Napier - Invercargil $190
Monday 22 February 2010 Queenstown - Napier $196
TOTAL $386.00
Auckland to Invercargill Thursday 11 February 2010 $140
Queenstown to Auckland Monday 22 February 2010 $109
TOTAL $249.00
If taking own vehicle then prob look at 2 weeks away from work, Plus Ferry cost Petrol etc ..
If Fly in and out then only 1 week from work / Flights and maybe a few bucks petrol ..
