HI All,
Just wondering if waikaraka park has a new promoter yet.
I recall from post the SNZ AGM and SPANZ conference it was a two horse race, with Bruce Robertson from PN on one horse, and Lewis Dawson from Springs speedway.
Does anyone one know which one of these promoters was choosen?
Both would be a huge step forward for the park with there proven success in managing significant speedways. Would add some huge momentum to the season, and ensure a great start by the new committee.
Look foward to hearing the continueing good news. great to think WP will be back and better than ever next season.
cheers for any updates

I had heard that The Club was not going to appoint a Promoter but do their own. Of course this is only hearsay and I don't know how true.

I only went to Waikaraka Park twice last season, once I joined the other 20 people who attended the North Island Superstock Champs, the other time was at the Teams Nationals. In terms of promotion of the venue, I offer these tips:
* Don't change the catereers, Waikaraka Park burgers are the best food I ate at any track last year. Fresh n' Tasty.
* Get the band back that was at the Teams Nationals after party.
* Get a Superstock team together to come to Palmy Teams Champs - every year. If they were to actually win I could see attendance back at Waikaraka Park really take off.
* Keep the bar prices at the current level.
* Don't fight each other anymore.

went along to the driver's meeting tonight for a nosey to see how things were progressing, the club is staying club run and are not getting a promoter in, no doubt they will add more info to their site in due course.
Cheers, - Yaz.

This is the official ASSCC Statement Regarding Promotion of Waikaraka Park Speedway.
The ASSCC holds the speedway license with SNZ for Speedway at Waikaraka Park.
Although two promotion company's expressed interest to manage the events for the ASSCC. The Auckland City Council have advised that our Lease does not allow this to happen.
The ASSCC have along with the promotional company's invested a considerable amount of time and resources into this. It is the intention of the ASSCC to promote the 2009/2010 season at Waikaraka Park.
Those that refer to Aaron Drever as the Promoter as per the website need to understand, that Aaron's role is purely the point of contact for all regarding promotions at Waikaraka Park and he also is the ASSCC Event Marketing Manager.
The committee are committed to putting the show together and will collectively work each of their strengths to make the whole package.
The drivers reps roles have changed and will be more a hands on role and together with the marketing, the ASSCC are committed to having a great season.
Our President Murray Kitt is managing the track and venue and ensuring that the facilities are presented to both drivers and public in the best possible light

Thanks for the update. Hopefully the old saying "many hands make light work" holds true.
Hopefully with the club maintaining the promotion of the track internally that means at least the earnings from the meetings can flow back into maintaining the facilities, and improving them first and foremost.
Rotorua are a classic example of this can be acheived.
And with the club running things, hopefully this mean there might be a few bob go the drivers way, instead of the promoters way since there is not one, so to speak.
Good luck all - looking foward to seeing Waikaraka Park move on to new glory!
