It is with much sadness that I advise on Sat July 25th after a short illness that Stewart ( Buddha ) passed away.
Buddha had over 20 years of service to Ruapuna Speedway firstly as Assistant Steward and for over the last 10 years as Steward.Buddha was an Excellent Steward and very meticulous in ensuring everyone was treated equally and always dotted the i's and crossed the t's making sure all compettitors and the Club operated within the rules.
Buddha retired from club level at the end of the 2008/2009 season to concentrate on his recent appointment as Stipendary Steward it is a tragedy we didnt get to see him operate at this level as i am certain he would have done a great job.
We will all miss his infectious laugh and dry humour at Ruapuna
Our thoughts are with Carol and family at this sad time.

Very sad indeed. Many people who have had the pleasure of knowing Stewart both on and off the track, will have some great memories and stories. I know of people coming to ChCh from out of town and for anyone who have not gotten all the details, Buddhas funeral is on Wednesday 29th at 3pm at the Linwood Crematorium, Linwood Ave, ChCh.

Speedway will be very much the poorer with Buddhas passing. He always acted in the sports best interests and was never short of the right answer. He always waved the Ruapuna flag proudly, even if at times few others wanted to. It just won't be the same not seeing the 'man in the blue trackies' making his way across the infield. I know that many speedway people will share Buddhas families sadness- he was one from 'the top shelf'

Its with much sadness to hear of Buddhas passing. In the time we knew him we had much respect for his enthusiasm and patience in his role at Ruapuna. Condolences to his family.
