Yip the old fireworks have done it again. Still heaps of families filing in an hour after first race. A huge crowd up until after the crackers, then a mass exidus but still a good crowd remained to watch some more racing. I will leave the full meeting review to the more experienced scribes. Not too dusty (excuse the pun) for first meeting, full pits, some nice new signage around the place and events flowed in an organised and timely manner. Well done to the new team at WP. Just wish the Superstocks had been there as well............
I find the best way to dispel rumours is to ignore them completely.
Cheers

Definitely the best WP meeting in several years. Big crowd, great racing, excellent fireworks and a smooth running meeting. The track held up well with minimal rutting but was a little dustier and harder to pass on than would have been ideal, but that's only a minor issue at what was an extremely good meeting. Keep up the good work - may the rest of the season maintain this standard.

A night is not a season, but if Waikaraka can continue in the vain they've started they're onto a winner. Great to see lots of new innovations, but most of all the atmosphere was great with the big crowd and the on-track action pretty good too. Top-notch fireworks display held at a reasonable time, and people genuinely concerned that the public were enjoying themselves. I generally don't enjoy 'opening nights', with nothing really on-the-line, but last night was thoroughly enjoyable.

Agree with all the comments about WPs opening nite last nite. Big crowd, great atmosphere, good racing, excellent fireworks and great value at $15. Congratulations to all involved who have instigated and been involved in the changes and obviously the hard work done in the off season. Obviously only nite one but if the WP team stay committed to providing great value then other tracks have a serious rival for speedway fans patronage. Keep up the good work team and if some of the rumours are true ;D then this could be a great season and a turning point for WP
