I might have missed it, but has anyone provided some insight into what happened at the first teams race of the seaosn?
Hopefully the crowd were exposed to it before the fireworks

Thanks Auckland for the Teams race, while we might not of won we gelled well and experience was gained,I think the Maulers could be a force this year(with Andrew in the mix)and I rate our chances as well with sum serious pace to come back into the squad and the talent we have waiting to get in the squad things are looking good for the next few years Andrew 65g/78b-Best performer of the weekend ,held up at the beginning of the race and came back strong ,performed well in the consolations, would of won the feature if he had had any team mates left-still got 2nd Sam 66g/18g-Got off to a flyer ,but got taken out on turn 3 before he could be given space do his thing, came out in the consolation race and took a wall ride that saw him nearly get thrown over the fence when hit by 272a when Sam was already in the air(consequently bending his rollcage on Sams floor)Sam came out again but blew the clutch in the 1st lap Nick 62g/75g-Did well in his 1st teams race, hit everything that moved in the 2 laps he did, gained valuable experience and will come back stronger Dave 61g/66g-Dave showed experience in this race, when Andrew got blocked at the start he went as 2nd runner then when Sam got nailed took over as main runner, then when he got nailed knowing we were now only 3 on 5 new He had to stay alive and block like hell to give our only remaining hope Andrew the room an protection he needed Bruce 63g/8g-Blocked my little butt off,at times trying to hold up to 3 blue cars at once on more than 1 occasion ,drove off disappointed in the fact we lost but thrilled with the effort that each team member put in.repaired damage for 2nd consolation race to end up on side up the wall, dam clutch Auckland Alleycats-As any Auckland Team that fronts-when they do front are there to do the business and they did,did find a few kinks in the armour an race was a lot closer than some suggest,as any one knows, when you lose a car the race can change,we lost 2 at almost the same time but the alleycats plan worked well and they too have got that will not stop for anything attitude that will hold them in good steed over the next few months;a pleasure to race against.

Observer, yeah they ran two rounds before the fireworks including the teams race. All classses advertised themselves very well to the once a year punter. With an excellent fireworks display finished i was pleased for the sport that a strong crowd stayed on to watch more racing.

Thanks for the kind words Bruce it was great to have Gisborne in Auckland for our opening night. A big thank you to the Gisborne Speedway committee who gave the Gladiators a clearance to run at WP even though the Gisborne club had their opening on the same night. To Scott Ross and the Gizzy boys you guys are a credit to your club and province. I hope you guys have a great season. Cheers Auckland Alleycats - Dean Mulholland
