Is Transit NZ moving the Speedway in 5 years or so. I thought the bypass was going east of track not through it.

This has been going on for about a decade, with (I seem to recall) 3 options on the Huntly bypass. The entire motorway system from the Bombay Hills south has been delayed several times (remember the infamous taniwha?), and the track relocation has been previously mentioned in the NZDTR mag. I guess it will eventually happen, and 5 years does sound pretty plausible. With Transit's assistance, a great new track should be possible.

Its already started to happen, if you look to the right as you go past the track you will see they have started to remove the large stand of trees over the other side of the mine pit and the mine is filling in the pit with its tailings. Been alot of work for our clients so far doing the proposed route ground investigations. Dave A

So, do we get an offramp directly to the track? That would make it all worthwhile.

i think its abit sad huntly moving, it's been there for so long and yet again hamilton/waikato speedway fans have to get used to another "home track", on the good side of the coin i guess huntlys new track will have nice fresh facilities etc
