From Midget Madness ....
SWINDELL SCHEDULES AUSTRALIAN RETURN!
December 1, 2009- Graham Racing Developments has today proudly announced the scheduled return of reigning Australian Speedcar Champion Kevin Swindell from the United States, having booked to run the Victorian Beasley Memorial at Avalon Raceway on December 19th.
Once again stepping behind the wheel of the immaculate AU1 Spike/Barry Graham Hawk out of NSW, Swindell will compete at the Beasley event before flying to New Zealand for the International Midget series.
"Kevin could potentially be flying the flag for both his native United States and Australia in New Zeland this season as we'll be proudly running the AU1 on the car throughout his NZ tour," said an enthusiastic Steven Graham, an ex-Australian Speedcar Champion himself.
Swindell's previous visit to Australia in April, provided Sydney race fans with one of the best Speedcar races seen, having twice come from the tail of the field in the Gleeman Truck Parts 50 Lap Speedcar Classic! Unfortunately a shredded right rear tyre took the Aussie Champion of contention in the closing laps, so he will no doubt be ready to correct that outcome by taking on the Victorians in their blue ribbon event.
Competing in the Beasley Memorial will also notch in the final qualifying run for the American star, allowing him to return to Avalon in February to defend his Australian Champion crown.

Wow, the AU1 Car is actually out of the shed to race. And being run overseas. To be a proud Australian Title holder you should run the Car reguarly with that driver in Australia. If you cant run the AU1 reguarly in Australia you shouldnt be entitled to it...regardless what your Nationality is.

i can only guess by your comment penrith is that you are sick of all the overseas competitors reguarly winning the australian midget title ie swindell, davey ray, tony elliot etc etc easy answer to the problem is improve your local sections racing and compete with them, the only aussie midget drivers that are internationally competitve would be browndog and nathan smee, aussie used to have some great midget drivers ie, rod bowen, george tatnell, etc, most of your local guys now want to run sprinters and who can blame them with the amount of tracks available to them and good prizemoney offered at most of them, you should be grateful the likes of pickens, mosen, alach, etc are not regular visitors over there as they would most likely win every event they entered

If Aussies are good enough they will beat whoever, wherever. But if you win it, wouldnt it be nice to race here reguarly???Or do we just turn up at Aussie Title time?? Unbelievable the AU1 Car is out of the shed and racing for the season finally. But as I said Overseas???... Great promotion for Speedcar racing in Australia with the AU1 overseas. Is it not?? One good thing though, you have to do 3 shows now to qualify for our title.Maybe improvement on that would be do the Super Series here and the winner of the series is AU1. I think that is fair. Everyone has an opinion , mine is "Wow the AU1 car is finally out of the shed "pity it is overseas though.
