as above, Barry B the only one who's been truly competitve in USA and Oz. Been some good ones at a local level of course. Jones Wakeo would have to rank up there. Bertram ,Gorge, Ray Jones, but overall....BB for me.

In Sprintcars the late Barry B, Wake-o, Lyndon Kendall, Roger "RB" Bertram and Phil "wild-man"Game
In Mod"s Phil "wild-man" Game, Roger "RB" Bertram, James "Foxy" Fox, Lyndon Kendall, Murray "Muzza Gordge", Colin "Sef" Entwistle.
And the list go's on and on as everyone of those drivers who's name I have not said you are in a class of your own as it takes a lot too throw a car around a 1/4 mile track at speed to get there hands on that Black and white flag.

Fossil (Ray Jones) drive in the Sprintcar Champs at Stratford using Muzza's modified cleverly disguised with Rays tailcone and front axle has to be out there with the best, plus watching the expressions on the faces of Plucks crew when they discovered their car had just been beaten by a cast iron block running a single four-barrel carb, just goes to show that huge goolies can be a substitute for horsepower!!!!!!!

Hard to go past Barry B but most of the stories I've been told about him have been in relation to his Midget driving.
So I will take Alan Wakeling - 8 NZ titles and the one Kiwi driver able to stick with the yanks when the Outlaws went to Baypark.
I will also throw Roger Bertram in there and cheekily suggest Kerry Madsen.

My Podium.......
1. Roger Bertram. 2. Murray Gordge. 3. Kerry Jones.
Barry Butterworth is one of the greats and his contribution to the development of sprintcar racing in this country can never be questioned, but his performances at the wheel of a midget are what made him a Legend in both New Zealand and Australia as well as a Champion in the US.

For crowd pleasing Kerry Jones would be hard to beat. His donuts after a win, and sometimes when he didn't win, were always cool to watch.
"Mmmmm, donuts" - Homer Simpson. ;D
