I have very little knowledge of how speedway officials are appointed to title meetings but would be interested to find out if someone can post it on here. Do SNZ appoint the officials to their title meetings or is it up to the clubs to organise it themselves? I don't know the process is for selecting officials for SNZ titles (I might ask the office), but the NZ title is all Woodford Glen officials.

Perhaps this highlights a need for all referree and officials to be tested regularly on the rulebook. Not sure if they are or not. My two cents worth is if a car is going to be allowed to run when not done the required amount of meetings or rules are going to be bent a little if the officials discuss with the drivers at drivers briefing beforehand and they are all in agreeance then it becomes a non issue. In the past we have run champs admittedly not snz titles where it has been agreed prior to the meeting by all drivers that you can get push started before the race that if there is a collision in the 1st lap officials will allow 3 minute bell to keep the car numbers up there, etc if it's discussed before the meeting everyone know's everyone's happy.

So if the accident happened in the first lap and a complete rerun/restart occurs, doesn't that mean that a bell should be allowed? Not according to the rule book which reads
R11-14-4 (vii) There is only one three minute bell allowed per race. These 3 minutes are before the green light or flag has been shown at the first start of the race.Looks pretty clear that NO three minute bell should have been given.

another spanner for the works. 21a is an AUCKLAND car and looks to have been given the go ahead to race at a nationally recognised event in AUCKLAND by who would seem to be AUCKLAND officials that run the meetin on behalf of SNZ. Perhaps this might be the reason people are upset. Would drivers and cars from other tracks have been given the same treatement? The only problem with that anti-Auckland and anti-Foxy comment is that Foxy would have been better off without the bell - he'd have picked up more points with a flat left front than through being disqualified. And it was these same AUCKLAND officials you rubbish, that DQ'd him wasn't it?

Also has anybody actually asked Gary wheather he has run a meeting? Because i was speaking to him last week before any of this came up and he told me that he had borrowed a car a few weeks before so that he could run his mandatory meeting.

Didn't we go through all this 'has he run a meeting' stuff after last seasons Nth Island Modified Champs regarding the winner of that event, Mark Dixon? The driver only has to sign on at a meeting to get the notation on his licence, he has no need to actually hit the track. Once he has signed on and had his gear checked who can really prove if he drove, especially if he signs on as a second driver? Regarding the heat one shambles, the race should have been red lighted, especially if a car had rolled. Then, that would have created a complete new start and repairs could have been made under the bell before the next green. I understand that eventually all the waiting cars that had been circulating under yellow stopped on the back straight, some shutting down their engines. They should also be disqualified from the restart as they had 'retired' from the race by taking that action. Isn't speedway fun?

Read the original post again Barry. where do i rubbish the refs, i dont say they did anything wrong do i? . Where do i state they did? . I was simply raising a point for discussion. You seem to have read it with your AUCKLAND supporters hat on and taken it the wrong way. For your information i like Foxy and quite often support him at various tracks so im not ANTI-FOXY as you proclaim either..... The original post by me was in regards to 21A being allowed to run and raised the issue of other cars would of been given the same treatment....(guess now youll proclaim im ANTI-PARKER - wrong again) Youve shown your cards and opinion though. thanks for your input, as invalid as it was The only problem with that anti-Auckland and anti-Foxy comment is that Foxy would have been better off without the bell - he'd have picked up more points with a flat left front than through being disqualified. congrads to gary , bummer he is not going to south island , might of been his year .....
bummer for foxy , but im sure he gets bored out in front all the time and loves the challenge of charging from the back of the field
and i think everyone who is involved with mods should be trying to get as many cars out on the track as possible , not puting people off racing
remember one of my first driving briefs at waikaraka when certain drivers were complaining about us learners being a pain in the arse with our bad driving and making it hard for them to win and suggested that after 5 laps we hug the pole line so they could lap us easily , when foxy spoke up and reminded those drivers that if it was not for the new guys there would only be 4 cars on the track and if they were as good as they thought they were , they could easily drive around us .........my vague point is that there has always been moaners and prima-donners in the mod class , always will be
