Great nights racing with a huge crowd. Jerry Coons Jnr won midget feature from Mosen then Kevin Swindell. Jonathan Allard won sprintcar feature from Sammy Swindell and Ryan O'Connor, Wakeo 4th.

Pity I can't give this meeting the review it deserves. That was the best night at Western Springs for two seasons. Sammy Swindell lit up the Sprintcars and Coons Jr did the same in the Midgets.
There were some big crashes and lots of incidents to talk about.
Great to see lots of drivers signing autographs in the pits after the meeting.

Certainly a night of atmosphere and drama, huge crowd, a triple flip in the TQ's (Shane O'Connor, Gina Harris and Shaun Cooke) and dominant performances from Allard and Coons Jnr - I bet the opposition comes back stronger on the 30th.

Fantastic nights racing, massive crowd and not to many good spots left by 6.15pm. Almost feel sorry for the bewildered folks looking for somewhere to put chairs and blankets at 6.45pm.
Great show last night by the visitors with only Brad Mosen in the midgets looking like he had any chance to hang on to Coons Jnr and Swindell after Pickens went out first lap of the feature.
Interesting watching Swindell & Allard "pick" their way around some of the slower sprintcar drivers, perhaps a little worried about being taken out by someone moving offline unexpectedly? That being said there were some magic full throttle passes out of town bend under and over the more experienced racers, Allard on Wakeling comes to mind.
Roll on the 30th!!

Thanks to all drivers last night at the Springs. Good clean driving in the feature made for excellent racing. It was great to watch the Americans pick their way through the slow traffic, if you can call them slow more like less experienced then the professionals racers. Awesome night for the crowd and good show case for the new spectators to the track.
One down point in turn four was that you can hardly here the big flash speaker system in the middle during and between racers.
Springs also have some fast safety crew out their man can they run when a sprintcar is casing you.

Well done. There are some great photos there.
The Midget pic would be a contender for action photo of the season.

Hilite of the night for me was Sammy Swindells extraordinary effort in evading giving a straight answer when asked what he thought of the track in his interview at the presentations; was almost as good as his driving.
As for the "TQ triple", what an appalling piece of driving from O'Connor!

What a great night's racing and atmosphere. We had "crowd rookies" along in front of us and they said the seven of them will be back, especially as the five kids were in for free and entertained all night.
Jerry Coons Jr was always going to be fast, as Graham Standring showed the meeting prior what power the car had....
Sammy Swindell was 'political' on the podium, not answering jamie about what he really thought of the track. I got the feeling he wasn't as impressed as his son was.
A highlight of my night was also my daughter Courtney (8yr old) getting on the podium and presenting champers and trophies to the drivers. (She was up on the podium two meetings prior when she won the Samsung camera) so she was elated to have given the prizes to the best americans and top kiwi drivers.
anyone with a photo of Courtney or video of prizegiving, could you let me know or pm me. thanks heaps.

Just a short note to say thanks for your reviews Percy - good stuff! After viewing thestoremann's clip on the other Swindell thread, along with reading your Western Springs - Boxing Night review, makes me wish I had of been there. Percy's Review Cost - $0.00 Percy's Review Worth - $2.95 PS. None of your web site links on Macgors work. www.percy.says.it/

Was good to see both the major channel's News services pick up the highlights package too, TV3 and TVNZ, slightly different footage, different voice overs, same big crashes - priceless. Well done Hedgey and Volt TV for sorting that.

;D For those of us in the south, The Dirt gave excellent coverage of this meeting last night. I know we have missed a lot of the meeting but the coverage hopefully showed most of the midget highlights.
