When visiting cars are made to feel unwelcome (to say the least) by the promotion during the good times they are less likely to want to help out when times get harder. I will never race there as long as the current promotion has control after arranging with the rep to race and when we got there being told to fu@k off by the promotor. What goes around comes around.

I have been a member of the new Baypark and also the old one, stock cars are a dying sport not only due to the rough track or economic times, but it seems to have lost the supporting & working together of drivers in helping to promote their own class. Guys like Craig Taylor, Perry Kite, Ian Carlyle etc would be saddened by this. It doesn't help that Willy Kay won't help in this respect either. For example, Rotorua have just had a UK style of racing event which was wicked and the monetary gains were good too. Your stock car rep does a good job, but is limited, so you guys n gals need to help her out. If you can organise different events then maybe you'll get other drivers to come, prize money is a GOOD incentive too!

Well i know one thing , The prize money paid at BP is miles ahead of what your track pays out. And if you are so concerned about the stockcar class at BP ,why dont you race there when your track is not racing . Think i know why lol.... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well Hirevs if your happy with the dwindling numbers of stockcars at Bay Park, while most other tracks are gaining in numbers, then so be it. But most others on here are concerned and rightly so. As has been said on here before we used to go their to try different things with our car, because we knew no one would hit us, sounds like the guys are finally starting to stir it up. but maybe its to late, I hope not.

No definately not happy with the low car numbers , but understand there are quite a few cars still sitting at home in the sheds due to limited finances . Numbers may climb up again next season with the North Islands there. Do get a bit peeved with the fact that Les 22m puts up a post asking for stockcars to come and race at BP and the thread turns to another .. Lets Bash BayPark ] thread. This post was put up as a goodwill thing.

I'll throw my 10 cents in... 11 - 12 stocks last night and there is still entertainment value from them. I appreciate that even though it is a contact class the cars are still valuable and cost plenty to keep them on the track entertaining the drivers and crowd alike. I think the racing at BP is good - I don't need to see stocks up the wall (watch sprints & saloons for that ), but I do want contact and contact does happen in a way that changes the outcome of the race but not (generally) putting cars out for other races. I have been to club nights at at rotorua and seen less hitting there with many more cars on a smaller track (this is not a knock at rotorua - I enjoy going there too). So, I for one, enjoy the stockcars at BP. Having said that, I wouldn't want to see any less which is a worry when 23, 24 & 31 were all racing last night with For Sale on them.

Maybe you could find a sponsor keen to put up some cash for rollovers or spinning out other cars might get more people interested. Get some more tanks involved they always are good entertainment .e.g.beatle ,lindsay trotter , peter rees just to name a few.

If a promoter not doing it someone needs to for the sake of the class if they want it to survive.Just my opinion.

forgetting for a moment if baypark is a good place or bad place to visit with a stockcar, the simple reality is that within easy tow distance for most northern stockcar competitors is kk, rotorua, huntly and wp. There is a large number of quality meetings to choose from " locally " before you even get to national titles and teams events , not to mention your obligations to your registered home track. From my perspective i am going to go where we are most welcome, where the style and type of racing suits us, cost effective to get to and so on.

The fact that he doesn't do anything to bring in visiting cars, and the fact that a lot of drivers have either registered elsewhere or havn't got their cars ready yet speaks volumes of where the promoters interests lie. BP could and should be the powerhouse of New Zealand stockcars but the sad fact is that when most other tracks have experienced a gain in numbers the stockcars at Bay Park have been in decline for the last few years. This can only mean that the promotion doesn't hold them in high regard, and may want to replace them with a more "glamourous" class.
