to be honest that was a let down..a 5 hour 10 minute marathon..$25 value for money? yeah right....
well done Foxy..I enjoy watching you- just rewards for a hard charger. Hope you come down for the Modified invasion this year..would be good to see a top class field for that.
Stockcars stole the show with their feature

was the 5hrs or so not filled with racing? It was, but the 3rd round of racing was awesome and would have been a great cap off for the night.. and the 4th round, only had 6 stockcars.. 3 Saloons.. 8 Streetstocks and a 1 car vintage mod demo etc.. Im unsure why they ran qualifying over 3 heats instead of 2, but it didnt add to the spectacle or track quality.

Well done to the new 1NZ FOXY. It would be so cool if ALL the drivers in NZ Champs come up to Auckland and race in the DIRT CUP

but i say if you didnt like it and want to moan just go somewhere else easy as that. The announcers should have too, ya reckon..lmao.. I reckon most of the drivers would have been frustrated with a protest for 20th spot in the final too, holding up everybody. When Saloons come out for the 5th time and you hear a collective sigh from the crowd, you know that they are marring an entertaining evening. Foxy is the man, and Rosie drove like an absolute Demon to get the 2NZ.

Pity the fastest car all nite, the only car with two heat wins & undeniably the crowd favourite spent the final on the infield thanks to someones else brain fade in the preceding 3rd heat. Guess that's NZ title racing for you desperation takes over from genuine racecraft . Thanks to ALL who put in the massive effort to get the 49c car to the starting grid for the final. Without the drama it well and truly could have been a different final. Comisserations Maurice just wasn't meant to be bud, you obviously had the package to get it done & i'm sure you will get your chance to show it again soon

I thought the racing was good but the whole thing spoilt at the end by the protest etc, I know that it has to be sorted before they run the final, but what I dont understand was what the protest was about, 64a was a clear 2nd in the repercharge, and according to what was posted on here he would take position 20 on the grid, how can you argue with that. I live in Kaiapoi, 5 mins from the track, and got home at 1am. Congrats to Foxy he was the standout driver of the nite.

I was totally surprised, given the weather-forced 1 night format, they opted for 3 qualifying heats per group, and not two. I'm assuming that was the drivers choice?

I'm assuming that was the drivers choice? 49c Maurice Headley, won both first heats in 2nd group then in 3rd one got caught up in a crash and had no where to go except into it and damaged front of car quite badly, only lasted not even a lap in the final as something must not have been right in car still. What Happened to 14s in the final? He had a good gird draw I assume something went wrong early on?? Thanks for any info 41ford 14s was in the top 6 or 7 for most of the final, the final ran for 21 laps non stop at the start until the first caution came on, and then from the restarts cars spun and i think the backmarker 8s spun in turn 1 and 2 and 29c drove over the front and 14s had no where to but into 8s or someone else, didnt quite see it, but he retired from that. I also dont understand why the backmarkers were allowed to start in indian file near the front of the pack, 64a,53c and 8s and others at the restarts should have been put to the back as they were a lap down as the race for 1 2 and 3nz didnt need them near the front.

Hey Kevin My understanding is that in the repercharge there was an incident earlier in that race (like first couple of laps)) with the 64A and 15W and Grant 64A was religated a place from the officals and Grant Protested that decision, and fair enough too. Very long nite but not as long as Foxy's I can imagine LOL

Got caught up in an incident in the 3rd due to some desperate driving round the outside causing an incident & leaving him nowhere to go but straight in a spun car, damaging chasis & frontend. Should have got a first or second row grid for final had he finished the 3rd heat unscathed. Would have been a great final considering the pace & potential he had been showing prior to the incident As for the 3 heat format rather than the 2 as had been expected I believe the club contacted the drivers on Saturday morning to advise them of the change??

The whole meet was absolutely fantastic, frustrated by the protest but the final was worth it. When the orange lite went on the order was 1 Fox 2 Harris (lap down) 3 Rose 4&5 Fleck & Ward (both lap down) and then Leech, Parkinson, Gourley (something like that anyway. I can understand the lapped traffic being allowed to stay as Fox had passed them and so why shouldnt others too, and he had already lost a race winning lead when the caution came on. Fair dues to Harris, as a dorklander he was protecting his team mate, but what the hell was Fleck doing, as a C car he had nothing to gain but get in the way of 3 C cars behind him - and as it happens from the first restart Parky threw himself into the north bend in a desperate attempt to get by and spun up. It would have been good to see the top guys fight it out without back markers but thats racing. Thats how I saw it, happy to be hear other points of view. As it happens the best guy all nite won. Hate to say this as a cantab but the dorklander was clean, fast and fearless. Deserved 1NZ no doubt. As always brainlessness from some spoilt the chances of others - hardluck Tash, Maurcie Headley in particular from a ChCh perspective. Gourley, Nevin fantastic and sad Keegans car blew up. Jackson had bad luck too but showed enuf class to see why he was 1NZ. Great nite, stockies in support races superb, loved it all.
