The whole meet was absolutely fantastic, frustrated by the protest but the final was worth it. When the orange lite went on the order was 1 Fox 2 Harris (lap down) 3 Rose 4&5 Fleck & Ward (both lap down) and then Leech, Parkinson, Gourley (something like that anyway. I can understand the lapped traffic being allowed to stay as Fox had passed them and so why shouldnt others too, and he had already lost a race winning lead when the caution came on. Fair dues to Harris, as a dorklander he was protecting his team mate, but what the hell was Fleck doing, as a C car he had nothing to gain but get in the way of 3 C cars behind him - and as it happens from the first restart Parky threw himself into the north bend in a desperate attempt to get by and spun up. It would have been good to see the top guys fight it out without back markers but thats racing. Thats how I saw it, happy to be hear other points of view. As it happens the best guy all nite won. Hate to say this as a cantab but the dorklander was clean, fast and fearless. Deserved 1NZ no doubt. As always brainlessness from some spoilt the chances of others - hardluck Tash, Maurcie Headley in particular from a ChCh perspective. Gourley, Nevin fantastic and sad Keegans car blew up. Jackson had bad luck too but showed enuf class to see why he was 1NZ. Great nite, stockies in support races superb, loved it all. Some might say the best car on the nite didn't get the chance to prove it in the final but as stated that's just my opinion. Great drive by Parky shame a back marker with no chance of getting anywhere had to cause the results to differ from what they should have been but the same could be said for the 64a car that shadowed Fox to allow him freedom to make the break had the chasing cars been able to get past the backmarkers! Pity desperation driving from S competitors caused carnage all nite long as they always do at the NZ title. As for Keegans car it did NOT blow up as quoted it suffered rear driveline problems as Luke told me directly & i'm sure he would of anyone else who bothered to ask. Pity the format was changed to one day or maybe both Luke & Maurice could have had the chance really make a difference. But she's all in the record books now, bring on the GP!!!!

Congratulations to Foxy and everyone for a great Mod. meet. It was awesome! I want to say a special "good on ya, mate!" to Nigel Nevin for a fantastic fifth place. Nigel is a self-funded privateer who has done the hard yards and paid his dues and was rewarded with a good, solid meeting and result. I also want to give another, "good on ya, mate" to Scott Valk from Blenheim for getting out there and having a go. Like me, Scott is a low budget, working man who loves mods and is always doing his best to improve despite being down on horsepower compared to the other big guns. Keep going, Scotty!! Bring on the GP. Suparev

Hey all, just got to put my two cents n again. First of al, congrats to Foxy and the team ones again, and what a night. There seems to be a lot of complaints about the protests. We were the team that protested before the last race. We would not normally protest anything, but when you have referees like the ones in Christchurch, you are left whit no choice. This was our first time and our last time down there for that reason only. The track is rather different whit that super slow exit from turn 4. For a driver and the crew experiencing that for the first time is a huge struggle. With only 1 night to sort all that and come some were is an uphill battle. Add to that those referees and your night becomes near impossible. We were told off and had points deducted after every race, even when we were rear ended after slowing for someone else, by Tasha they took points of us. The final straw and protest came after the repercharge. We had to finish in second to make the final, did that, got back in and shock horror here we go again. This time apparently we had made contact with our r/rear wheel going into the l/front of some ones car. For that they would take one position form us. This would take us out and put Craig Pottinger into the final. Grant hadn't noticed anything, so of we went to the referees, were told t go away or be banned from speedway for some time. Only option was a formal protest. The 5w car had seen nothing and felt he had enough problems keeping the car on track, the car behind that also saw nothing wrong and eventually we won the protest. That's why the delays. That call should never have been made for several reasons. It did not effect the car in third position, nor the car we supposedly hit, and as the driver of the offending car cannot see behind him he also could not do anything about it. Can't think of better case of racing incident. The track is different, the facilities are great, organization was good but our night in Christchurch was very frustrating. So if the Christchurch public is wandering why the night took so long or why not many racers come down there, this gives you some understanding. We wont be back. Regards Ardy.

You're right Brett we are not. We couldn't stretch it any way. Both myself and Grant run a small business and had some hard blows last year, simply can't afford to stay away. At least I know I wont be missing much. I know the racing will be good but I can do without the frustration. Hope to see you guys come up here one day. Ardy.

Hey all, Grant, 64a here. Again, congrats Foxy, well deserved and great to see you bringing the silverware home! Thanks again to Ardy and the crew and Cheers to the fans who supported me this weekend. To those critical of the protests- we didnt want the situation either, and those concerned about "back markers", well mate, like all the other drivers, we are there to race and finishing 9th from 20th grid in my second year of racing, kinda speaks for itself! New drivers, and even "back markers" need to race and be supported to do so, this is afterall how we grow the sport, and hey, anyone skilled enough and fast enough will pass--- this is what its all about.Get in a mod and come give us a run at Waikaraka Park - The more mods the merrier! ;D

As it happened, 8s who was a backmarker spun and caused 14s to dnf, 53c was invloved in the pass when 29c got past 4c, so they did have an affect on the end result. You could see it when 11a got into the back markers, how cautious he was as the track started slicking off and the last thing he wanted was to be involved in someone elses spin or crash. Im not saying 121s would have got past 11a had you not been there, as 11a was simply in a league of his own all night, end of the night it was a good meeting, and man how cool would have it been if they managed to run the whole 25 laps with no cautions.

I thought it was an absolutly awsome nights racing!! Woodford Glen run a slick operation and I thought the night went like clockwork. A 5 minute wait for the final to start was no drama for me. There was some fantastic racing by all and as the night progressed and the track surface changed the pressure went on and mistakes were made - thats racing! Naturally I was backing the Stratford boys to win, but big congrats to Foxy who trail blazed all night and took top honors! Also a huge well done to Rosie for taking 2NZ!! But I must mention the stunning drive by Leech, and the "get out of jail free" card below that he cashed in when he bounced over the front of the 8s after he spun and then went on to get third!!! Wicked! My "hard luck award" goes to Brandon Parkinson who was absolutly on fire all night! Brandon had scored the most points out of all the drivers there over the races, and had a podium placing in the bag untill spinning in the last stages of the final and ending up at the rear of the pack! Brandon, you will go far! (podium next year for sure!!) Lastly I must congratulate all the drivers, and the Modified class as a whole for noticably stepping up a notch right across the board. I think its a fine thing that the three top NZ placings in the class are shared down the lenght of the country (Auck, Stratty and ChCh), showing the skill thats out there. Also must thank Brian Hopping and TJ from Mainland photos for a place out on the infield. Will see you all at the Mod GP in Greymouth this weekend. Cheers Drew ps. - A great big thanks to The Professor for the beers and to Allcrossedup for the couch and cosy fire to sleep beside friday night!! Cheers guys! ;D

good feedback drew. i cant get over some people on how they moan and moan i have had people that go to the other side of chch to speedway and moan. i couldnt beleave it they said good to see that they are not the only speedway that stuffs around all i can do is laugh really i am sick of tossers. for one the glen had to get two meetings into one for a start then they had hold ups as any champs would and beleave me i have been to other meetings that have been worse and i have been to other meetings that were just a club run and it went alot later than what was on in the weekend. i think people that are just going to pick at things would be better off staying at home and not going at all and let the people that put all into what they are doing at the speedway carry on and do a good job. so to the people that went to the one show and yes it did go on for abit at least it isnt every show like somewhere i know of and it is season after season dont even go next time cause you wouldnt be missed.so what it comes down to is if you are going to moan dont go speedway dosent need idiots like that and just dont go i have put up with tossers at another track in chch and dont go at all i wouldnt even go if i didnt have to pay its as easy as that. so well done all the modifed drivers very good show and also well done to the glen for giving it the best they could after te weather we had.

Well, the information that people associated the club posted on this site helped me make my decision to go to the meeting and take my 4 y.o. The information being that the mods would be 2 heats qualifying, a repercharge and a final, as well as Stockcars, Superstocks, Streetstocks and Ministocks. I figured that at worst we would be leaving by 11.
As soon as we got there, and paid, and then found out that the meeting would be 3 heats qualifying as well as runoffs for grid slots (which didnt happen or didnt have to happen? thankfully), and Saloons had been added to the mix, i commented to the people we were with that i didnt think we would be leaving by 12, and even if there wasnt a protest i doubt we would have.
I dont blame people for complaining, essentially most were there for one race, and many left before seeing that race. On a night that cost $25 a head, in these financial times, it was just not good enough. I wouldnt have gone if i had of known the format as i had work at 6am the next day, and my boy was going out with his grandad at 9am, but once we were there, it is near impossible to make the boy leave, haha.. and we kept thinking the big race would be soon.
I find that most idiots dont seem to know how to use a shift key.

oh well its idiots like some that the sport dosent need. so next time people will know what to do dont go. this is the last im going to say as i dont have time be on here and when i do come on here i like to see good stuff but the last few times its just been about nuts and seems like people dont have better things to do than moan. and if my shift key would work then i would press it and get rid of people that all they do is talk nuts and im sure other people would as well. so good luck and hope people find something else to go to that makes them happy. and buy the way you go over seas and will pay a lot more to see a show so i wouldnt moan about prices here.

I find that most idiots dont seem to know how to use a shift key. The below was posted on this discussion board at 9.10am on Saturday the 9th. It is the very message that was also posted on the Woodford Glen Website. It was also on the WFG info line and WFG Shop answer phone. Therefore the information was there for all to read or hear. Therefore in the future I would suggest you check the wfg website if you require factual information about any of the meetings at wfg. Or perhaps know that Children under 5 are free, so i can question the gate rather than being asked his age, and then charged $5 like on Saturday? Guess you are right there.

The wfg website was later that morning updated to say that the format had definately been changed to the three qualifying heat format after consultation with all the drivers. Like I said, (with all due respect to Gordon and his great website ), the best place to get acurate information regarding any meeting at wfg is on our website. In fact I would suggest that would be the best place to look for info at any track.

Hey guys, speaking of moaning, from a competitor point of view, the meeting was great considering the weather and the window they had to run in. Sunday would have been out and Monday would have seen half the field of competitors. The punters got to see a great show and for us we run a total of 82 laps. Loved that part of it. To stay with the officials though, they need some classes, the calls they made were dubious and even the results aren't right. We came 9th according to the official results, how ever they put Parky ahead of us and some other competitors in the final result, I know for a fact he did not pass us after his spin. They put him in the wrong spot and didn't allow for it in the final results. I wonder if there is a difference in price money? To the fellow competitors, check your placings as some of you may have done better then others. Come on officials get the job done right. See you out there. Regards Ardy.

Final Results are Correct, 5gm parky did spin out, however he never went a lap down as he got restarted and went to the back of the line, which made him the last car to be on the lead lap.
