Interesting to see the different things they try! For instance Swindells square tail tank, not to mention that thing of Johnny Murdocks near the bottom of that page! I would hate to have to get out of that in a hurry from a crash

was hoping somebody would pick up on that, the roll cage is more of a drivers cage than a car cage, no idea how they made it legal to compete

Sounds like a good job done so far by MP,well done. Its a pity that those americans didnt read our discussion board about the outlaw format and how half a dozen kiwis dont like it.I hope someone is counting how many laps he will do and how many cars he has to pass blah blah etc etc or maybe it dosnt matter as hes one of ours!BRILLIANT GO MP

its awesome to see so many different things being tried. Was someone running the sesco v8s built out of auckland at the chilli bowl this year? And is that Pickens best result at chilli bowl - man can that kid drive, and boy must he have some composure to pull that result at an event that size. thanks for the links, and i've snaffled a couple of pics from the links above - definitly recomend having a looksee at those links above are there any results for this beast?

Night 2 Heat 1:Tim Mcreadie. Heat 2:Cole Whitt. Heat 4:Brad Sweet. Heat 6:Kevin Swindell. Heat 7:Davey Ray. Heat 8:Brad Kuhn. Great racing Cole Whitt in his heat from the back 2 win.A-main stared with Cole Whitt off pole and Kevin Swindell off 2. Kevin Lead lap 1 and Whitt had nothing for Swindel and Swindell took the win with Whitt Second and Brad Kuhn.

It's amazing how we produce world class drivers in the Midget class.
Pickens is just unreal - what a talent. Mosen isn't too far behind him either.
I do wonder at the point of some of these modifications. I can understand the left front tyre but I'm stuggling with the square tailtank and the rollcage!
Does anyone understand how the grids work for the A-Main on finals night? I'm just wondering if Pickens gets put further back by finishing second vs winning the race.

Pickens should be starting Sat A-Main in grid 5.
The square tail is for weight distribution...fuel is lower..idea is to get more traction when it slicks out. Well thats their story and they're stickin to it lol.
The cage one is interesting. A lot of wingless sprint guys got hurt last year, and one of the ideas some bulders were banging about, was to try and do the cage along the lines of drag racing cars. To lock the drivers in more, like fuelers n funnies etc. Looks like an attempt at it for a midget.
Not too many rules at the Chillibowl, so there's often a few weird n wonderful looking things turn up.
Be interesting to see how Mosen goes today now that Pickens has kind of set a mark. Mosen's very good, but Michael is ...how they say..."a little bit special". JMHO.

a main grids for saturday are set by the top 3 in each nights qualifing by the amount of cars each have passed ie 1 point for every car passed in heat races the top 12 then are calculated by points then grids allocated as such. the bottom 12 are then sorted using the same system pickens therefore could start as low as grid 12 as he had a grid 1 start in his first heat therefore not getting any pass points even though finishing 1st but getting pass points in the a qualifer as well as the a main hope that explains the system, clear as mud ah

Night 3 at the chili bowl qualifying.tonites line up with our other kiwi driver Brad Mosen. heat1:Shane Cottle. heat2:Brad Mosen. heat3:Michelle Decker. heat4:Tracy Hines. heat5:Darren Haggen. heat6:Terry McCarl. heat7:David Gough. heat8:Garret Hansen. With the A-main started with Tracy Hines off pole, Shane Cottle off 2 Sammy Swindell off 3 and Brad Mosen off 4. Off the start Brad fell back a couple of positions and as the race went on Brad got back up to 4th with Sammy in the lead over Darren Hagen then Tracy Hines. Sammy got into traffic got hit by a flipping car got restarted off the back which moved brad up to the transfer spot. when it came near to the end Hines slid to high and lost some positions and then again was good for Brad moving him up to 2nd but Tony Roney grabbing the second off him with the top three 1st Darren Hagen 2nd Tony Rony 3rd Brad Mosen
