Hi all,
Its my turn for an update on the happenings at the OAS workshop and I say it every time but man this seasons comin up fast and there has been quite a buzz about it too, as you will see still have lots to do but will all be worth it I’m sure.
There’s been a lot of planning (bad had talking smack and surfing the internet) going on in anticipation of the next bad had visit, and some good work by some support crew. Here’s a couple of shots of the progress;
The new roll cage taking shape
Andy (Andrew the welder) working on the hip plates of the new roll cage, and welding the new hoop on (it was supposed to be tacked, but you can’t stop a good man on a roll – it didn’t take him long to cut it off honest) He didn’t believe me when I said they get painted before they get welded on. And speaking of paint there is still a lot of uncertainty as to what the cars will look like this year but the primer red on 687 is really starting to grow on me and dosnt show the rust hahaha.
And with the chassis getting closer it is time for the motor to have the sump painted and put back on but again controversy on colour I want black cause its tough, but bad had thinks ford blue or something? cant say we have ever had a can of that in our workshop lol
Any way that’s about all for now, with every thing starting to fall into place we are expecting some of my engine parts to arrive back in a week or two which is giving jonny a chance to get the 687 freshen up finished and decontaminate before assembly on the holden can begin hahahaha. Don’t ya just love the ford v holden banter but do think I am on a losing battle this season with a lot of fords comin into town I might just tone it down a bit.
Cheers
Olly
