A good mate and a stalwart of Greenstone Park over the last decade has a rough week.
On Wednesday the old mate was working on a trailer at his workshop on his own and somehow fell over the drawbar as he was getting out. Ended up dangling in the middle in a bit of pain, so took himself up to the house, had a bite to eat and shower, and with his good wife drove to the hospital.
Turned out he had broken his leg below the Knee. Full cast ankle to hip.
Pretty PO'ed at the unneccessary restriction, so somhow he managed to convince the docs to cut the cast off, and get a full length brace, that did the same job, but was removable for the shower, and most importantly fit under the jeans.
I stopped in for a quick visit on Friday, and dropped off some calcium pills, to help the healing with the advice that it was 16 weeks till the NZs, so plenty of time to get right, and get the required meetings under the belt - Towbar has a brand new Rees that has been "hardening" in the shed for the last couple of seasons while the house rebuild has taken priority. Progress on the house has been good enough that Shell has let the bull out into the shed for the odd night to drag the now hardened stockcar into the middle of the garage to get things moving on the car. WHich in true towbar style he has - a weeks worth of work and shes almost ready for blasting and paint.
Being the foolish bloke he is, he insisted on walking (hobbling on crutches) down to the shed to show me the progress "1 week from blasting mate, then its all go, bet I beat Olly to the track as well as on it HAHA!" was the call, the humour still there despite the broken leg.
Got the call this morning that Towbar had some sort of issue with the Brain in the weekend, and had been taken to Critical Care with some numbness and amnesia issues. It sounds like the worst has past, as there has beens some progress today.
Get well mate, I know you'll pull through. THoughts go out to Shell, Jayden and Trinity-keep well and i know the 48gm will ride again.
Any Cards, notes, wishes can be sent to Towbar Dave and Family, 4 Ward Street, Rununga, Greymouth. If thats to tough and you want to leave a messege here your welcome, we can print a copy off and take it up to hospital to cheer him up.
The photo is borrowed from www.georgegibbs.co.nz who have some great photos from a bunch of Nelson and Blenheim meetings from the last 4 years, including the stock shock etc.
