After a short illness Morris passed away yesterday morning a former street stock and limited saloon driver from Waikaraka Park and a Life member of Meremere Dirt Track Club. My wishes go out to his Family at this time. A guy that will be missed

Oh this sucks. I had the pleasure of calling dozens of races at Meremere, Waiuku and Waihi Beach that Morris (Morrie) was involved in. He had a variety of machinery and I remember a few years ago him in a rotary Starlet that he tamed and drove the wheels off. Never scared to push the boundaries, he was a big bugger (and I'm 6'2) with a smile and I saw him get irritated over others driving standards, but never cranky. Hasn't been on the track for a season or so that Im aware of, but I'm sure he was involved in racing somewhere, somehow. Best race that sticks out was at Waikaraka in the Starlet, battling for the lead, understeered into the turn 2 wall (clockwise) rode up it, kept his foot in and not only got back on the track, passed the leader on the backstraight into cemetary and won the race. Post race interview, I asked if he was scared? He said didnt have time to be scared, I was too busy trying to win !! I think that sums him up. Thanks for the memories Morrie.

Very sad to hear. Morris was a top bloke and I used to love racing streetstocks against him.
Rest in Peace

R.I.P. Morris. I had the pleasure of racing against Morris on many accusations back in my dirt track days. Man we had some great battles on and off the track . Condolences to the family.
