Surely Gary Davis must be in the team? could be a nasty rumour sandy ,but have been told hes got a busted knee.know for a fact wardy got asked to be the 6th driver though It amazes me that someone withg as much as much teams experience and Skill is only a 6th driver do people not remember him racing for two teams one season and still being the stand out performer?

I guess should one of the boys not perform they could always chuck Wardy in their car. Or must the driver be stood down or injured to bring the 7th in to replace? Then again he not the same without his mint car

Mr Ward would certainly be my pick for the starting line up ANYDAY! He is a machine... Blocks at speed, be crazy to sit him out.

Wellington Young GunsDale Robertson Richard Gaskin Paul Gaskin Kyle Lane Scooter McIntosh Shane Davis 7th driver Paul Fairbrother Is this some kind of a joke? Although it could have been guessed Barry B gets to name the home team on Macgors 4 days before they defend their title. We know that 10 teams are expected and they are still talking to two more teams. Can u tell us anything else Barry? we just want minor details like the format, any support classes, the draw if its done or where we can find it when it is done. 10 teams; Auckland, Waikato, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Stratford, Wellington, Blenheim and Christchurch. Same line up as last year except Waikato in and the Manawatu Steelers (who recieved a dispensation to enter last year when Nelson withdrew) out. Hopefully this information is correct, it doesn't come from the promotion but one of the Young Gun team members. Like everybody else, the local team don't know anything about the draw either....

Whangarei non-SNZ track so probably not eligible Te Marua and Manawatu - cannot have two teams representing same track, so neither is eligible
It's certainly a shame that they couldn't have found two teams out of the remaining seven however. The non-appearance of Baypark, Rotorua and Kihikihi is especially disappointing to this fan who would love to see the event back north of Lake Taupo!! Go Auckland and Huntly!!!!

I may have missed it but, can someone please tell me when or what date the trials for the Pumas team were ? Surely you just dont get pick by some people that just sit around together and one sunday let your mates know they are in your team ? When my mates and I used to try for a regional rugby team etc we had to go to the trials and give our best for the selectors that day.
Were there any trials or what is the process used and by whom for selection ?
Also, are the Pumas racing for the Palmy club or the track Promotor?
Cheers.

Enough of the moaning about who is in or out of the Pumas. Having so many good drivers makes for an interesting problem of who to pick. Whoever the team is won't be to everyones liking. Lets get over the moaning and get behind them. Go the Pumas!
Regardless of whether the event is 10 or 12 teams, there are going to be some very strong teams, and some great races.

Real shame that its only 3 days from event and still nothing is 100% like teams entered, format etc etc.
Other threads have talked about how speedway can help itself with its image to the public and yet this is a prime example how the sport lets itself down badly when the paying public dont even know what they are going to see yet.
I've had several mates he dont often go to speedway ask if its a event worth going to and I've told them it is, but when they ask who/what etc is involved and i cant tell them it puts them off.
Its OK for the die-hard speedway fan that will attend this event no matter what, but for a national event it needs to be sorted a lot sooner then this.
Roll on Friday/Saturday though...cant wait ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Have to agree Wazza. I mean im a huge Welly supporter always have been, but i think its time they lost this title. Wellington speedway (not the young guns who are a champion team)are just not doing the championship any justice come on Welly sort it out!
