Posting on behalf of Jolly Olly, who was a bit blue for this update, hence its delay. I had my 7th and final wedding for the year so missed this meeting (great timing as usual).

OAS RACING UPDATE
Hi all,
Well what a fortnight of over whelming emotion it has been, the pike river disaster really shocked all of us and consumed all our thoughts as we hoped and prayed for any good news to come from the mine.
The dhl saloon series was the meeting we had targeted to get 38gm to the track for the first time this year and the car was making good progress but that slowed right down this week as news of the explosion filtered through, and to be honest speedway was the last thing on my mind.
Jonny and Andy had been ticking off jobs on the list and shaneo came in on a couple of nights as well and got stuck in making a new dash and doing some of the time consuming bits. TO be honest I wasn;t feeling the need given how the entire town was feeling.
Then the news spread of the effort the saloon drivers had been making on their speed week of the south island, this was the push I needed and thanks to Dad, Shane and Andy the new OAS 248ci holden v6 was fired into life at 9 45pm on Friday and what a sound, almost music.
Race Day
We arrived early to find a full pits, which was fantastic and 11 local stockcars all lined up which is a huge effort from the guys considering the 5-6 that were present for the first 2 meetings and with a couple more there or abouts the racing is only going to get better.
the new look with a few more stickers yet to go on. Thanks to Craig B for the shots from his great site
Race 1 we started off the back with the idea to get some laps on the new motor and not work it too hard, with the rush of putting the car together the mirror was overlooked and didn't make it on time so probably left myself open to a couple of attacks from jayden or jnr bar to those who don't know him in the x double trouble car from dunners who turned me round not once but twice. Got home near the rear of the field but was happy to finally get a run and no issues.
Race 2 the plan was to do much of the same off the back again but when kev the haymanator hayman stood on the brakes from the outside line off the start we found ourselves shoot into 5th, and with a couple of spins in front of me we got up ton 2nd managed to work our way past smithy in the 43gm only to totally smoke him out when a nasty oil leak pumped oil all over my exhausts held on for the win as it was the last lap, back in the pits we found the front oil seal had let go so that was our day over.
*another great shot from www.coastphotos.org
Was great to get some seat time, and the whole meeting was a success with an awesome donation from the dhl guys all of whom deserve a big thanks. Once again big thanks to Dad, Shane and Andy for the late nights.
All Our thoughts are with the Miners and Familys through this time. We wish you all the support we can from the OAS team.
Cheers Olly

Great write up from Olly. We all feel the same here.
What he also forgot to mention was while running in the motor he recorded the fastest laps in both races.
