Auckland: Just 2 entrants, that being 7a Trevor Mason and 351a Paul Vazey. Paul has been looking in great form lately with a win a few weeks back in Rotorua doing like wise back at his hometrack. Dont be surprised if he slips under the radar and we all know what Mason is capable of, so watch this space!!!!!
Huntly: A solid muster of 8 entrants for the Mooloo gang, lost a few earlier on. 23h Lance Ashton and 28h Glen Drabble have looked the goods in an earlier hitout at Rotorua this season. Much talk has been around the menace 71h Tony Wooton with his stirring antics. 62h Dayne Conder has improved alot likewise with 73h Karl Ross who has been impressive lately, whilst 414h Warwick Ansty has repaired his blown engine from earlier in the season and is ready to battle with his ex Allstar mate 16h Aaron Headington. Can they snatch a victory for the loyal Waikato supporters?? the last time a Huntly car has won the title was 85h Jared Wade back in 2003 in Stratford.
Rotorua: These guys have the most tally of entrants so far, 135r Scott Hewson has been on fire lately with 92r Kyle Fraser in co. 99r Mark Decke aint far off the pace either with young local hotshoe 37r Ken Hunter on the pace aswell... Can he do it for his whanau??? he has the support of 41r Gary Hunter and 336r Barry Hunter Jnr to back him up. But wait!!!!!! Stan??? yes!!! thats right folks!!! 515r Stan Hickey will be making a comeback and will give the NZs another go, and never discount the 38r Tank commander that is Ross Ashby who has silenced the critics with a few 'shut your mouth' wins showing what the tank is capable of doing. Can the locals muster a win?? time will tell. Kyle Fraser last triumphed for Rotorua in 2008 in Wanganui.
Kihikihi: Just 2 entrants, that being 36k Blair Mitchell and Huntly's contracted but racing under the K banner 76k Ryan Johnson who has been pedaling the 6k with a podium finish at the recent King Country Superstock Champs.
Hawkes Bay: The Bay boys have mustered a solid 10 cars. Favourable's and hopes will be lying in the hands of experienced campaigners such as current 3nz Murray Long, 4b Joe Faram and 7b Shane Melsop who has been turning heads in his brand new Gordge beast. 16b Steve Jude has been impressive in the Silver Bullet aswel. 27b Shane Warner should be well on the pace with 37b Garry Foley, 91b SJ Cavell, 10b Sam Bartholomew and the Groomes such as Adam and Mike completing this strong looking Bay trio.
Stratford: 282s Phil Ogle has been flying the Stratford flag proudly with his extensive travels and it has payed dividends for him grabbing good results lately. 39s Michel Willemsen, 45s Stephen Guilford and 82s Paul Johnston all know what its like to be amongst a top quality field so expect them to be on the pace. Stratford have welcomed 84s Tom Harris in with open arms, he is the only UK visitor entered to date. Remember when Stratford was the home of champions?? lets hope these guys can restore their prophecy that the likes of 39s Greg Johnson and 69s Barry Podjursky have left.
Wanganui: Most of the River City supporters will be placing their bets on 5v Darryl Taylor to bring the title home for them after achieving 3nz in 2008. 51v Anthony Cooper has racked up a few strong showings at Stratford earlier in the season whilst ex Gizzy and current Wanganui veteran 99v Richard Watkins will make yet another appearance at the NZ title.
Palmerston North: Possibly the track that will do the most damage... Yes 'The Palmy Army' as they are called and they hold the second biggest tally of entrants for the NZ title. No doubt the creme of the crop will rise to top, 2nz Bevan Humphrey, 7p Shane Penn, 10p Peter Rees, 72p Simon Joblin, 52p Scott Joblin are all front runners no doubt. But theres a heap more!!! add in the likes of 79p Kerry Humphrey, 58p Peter Bengston, 8p Scott Miers and the list goes on. 591p Wayne Hemi has tasted success on the Rotorua circuit in the past and all eyes will be on the Red Waka. Will he sail to victory??? or will someone capsize him??? we well find out very soon!!! Simon Joblin last held the title for the P after winning down the deep south in Dunedin back in 2007.
Wellington: 4w Daren Gray and 89w Dale Robertson will fly the Windy City colours and their supporters will be hoping that the wind will gust them to victory lane. Roberston has tasted success at Rotorua with a 3rd placing at the 2010 World 240s.
Nelson: Current champion 1nz Brendon Higgins has only just confirmed that he will be attending the NZ title as of a few weeks ago. 14n Dale Ewers has only just started his season with an appearence at Nelson in the weekend but he should be on the pace and the ex 2nz knows the Rotorua venue well. 48n Brett Nicholls and 46n Blair Cunningham have all proven to be top contenders and the Top of the South support crew will encourage them to support Brendon to hopefully keep the title back in Nelson.
Christchurch: 19c Malcolm Ngatai came so close to taking the title back to back at last years event at Kihikihi. He will no doubt represent his track well and hopefully he can slingshot back to the top and put a smile on the face of the Woodford Glen supporters who have had nothing to smile about after the Earthquakes that have taken place down there earlier in the year. 86c Jason Smith will also make the trip.
Invercargill: Just 1 entrant that bieng 492i Campbell McManaway who has been a force to be reckoned with in his Gordge machine. Performed well at Kihikihi last year, and no doubt will be looking for a solid showing in Rotorua.
So... there you have it, a brief breakdown on all the tracks being represented and the whos who? or will win and or likely contenders, darkhorses that will snatch the title. So... who will it be??? may the best man win!!!!!
