Have just finalized my flights from the states, gettin in at 9:30am friday. Am looking for something to fill in my day till my family arrives from down south. Will be sans wheels.....eg on foot. So any info on scrutineering, or cars on display, or any other good time fillers will be much appreciated. Also a recomendation on a good fish and chip shop.. am hangin for a good "sunday roast".

AJ Generally, scrutineering is held in the square on the friday .... generally from between 12.00pm on till about 4ish.. then they do a parade back to the track. Shopping.. cant remember what its like up there nowadays, but apparently big changes in the plaza, so may be able to find a "roast" there

These days I direct the broom pushing....Gotta love Corporate America. Is there still a go-kart track in Palmy? Just did the count back, and heck its been 14yrs since I was last at Palmy teams....Am thinking a thing or two has probably changed a little. AJ

I know I will be heading to Fishtown for the best fish burgers in the world! Even better at 3am Otherwise Stads Cafe on Main St just before Ruahine heading toward the gorge or Fishtown on Ferguson St at the back of the plaza.

Go to sunday Roast highly recommend it , if ya a normal eater get a small if not a medium if you could eat a whole horse get a large but small at $11.00 is good value..usually they do scrutineering in the square on the friday so don't see why that would change this year

Yes, they have done scruitineering in the square 2 out of the last 3 years, but did have scuitineering behind the council building one year, closed off Church St, but there was a big lack of space... hence is why they ask to do it in the Square, and more public see it there as well
