I think the effort put into getting the meeting underway last night was outstanding. Some promotors might have taken the easy option when it was still raining at 5.00pm and called it off and sent everyone home. When it did finally stop raining a huge amount of work was put into getting the track useable and, apart from the first couple of races being a bit greasy, I think the track turned out superb. The Higgins crew with there grader, loaders and trucks did a magnificent job bringing the track back from the brink. I was looking forward to watching the choppers buzz round helping dry the track but in the end they weren't needed. Sure, the meeting started a little late but I think it was preferable to going home. Well done team.

The late start had the unintended consequence of forcing the promoters to compress the programme. Doing all the tosses out on the track before racing is an idea that should be used again, as was the hot laps starting from both sides of the tracks, and the fast-tracked introductions.
I have been critical in the past of the amount of time that is wasted on the opening night of the Teams Champs, but last night, once it got started after the Grand Parade and wheelpacking, it went really well. I hope that Bruce and Puk take note, and that some of the changes that they were forced to make last night can be implemented in the years to come.
And yes, the efforts of the Higgins guys to get the track raceable were fantastic. To have ended up with the kind of racing surface they had after the first couple of races, and with the constant threat of rain was a credit to everyone who worked so hard to make it happen.

I agree, the pole draw and double warm ups were a great idea worthy of continuing.
