There are a number of ways this can go...
1. in the heat of the moment he didnt see the pole line = he was caught and dealth with appropriatley.
2.Did he gain any advantage as he came was next to the same car the whole way thought until a blocking manouver stopped the scrapper = he was caught and dealt with accordingly.
3 He didnt dissengage and do a donut (something i remember seeing peter bengston do in one of the later races in the night) and he happened to get caught out by a clever eagle eye = he was caught and dealt with accordingly.
At the end of the day it could have gone either way, there is definatley room for doubt against the protest as upon re entering the track he had made no gains or benefits, a number of cars made the very same move on the night and either did not disengage or didnt do the donut and re enter the track.

Will be nice when the dvd is released, saw the track footage at the forest elbow last night (memory could be blurred) its taken from the comentators box, looked like his left front wheel is over the pole line most of the way round the corner.

He was pumped on adrenalin did a no-no , paid the price. He wasnt the first and he wont be the last. It was a fair call by the referee will done.

After watching that tape, and as much as I was looking forward to the Tigers being in the final, I think the call is right, he had all four wheels on the grass, did not back off or turn around, thru this was able to pass three cars and take the lead, after the race he was pulled back the cars he passed, I say good call from the reffs, I've lost placings this season twice for cutting the pole line with one wheel, and it sucks BUT it is a clear rule and you get warned most meetings not to do it.

Get over it Panthers are champs..to big to strong! Theres sore losers and theres bad winners. You wanna stab at the sore losers, stop being a bad winner. The best team of 2 in the final won last night, that cant be denied but had it not been for politics it may have been different. Not condoning the grass cut but from the grandstands i couldnt see the pole line on turn 3 at all, was completely covered in mud so an "accidental" infraction was very likely.

There was a bad winner down in front of Stratford supporters last night. Stratford sitting there from 3 onwards creating a great atmosphere all in good fun. Then a smart mouthed teenager turns up and couldn't take the joking banter. Also great work by security!

I actually stood up and clapped and cheered for the panthers on their victory lap. I also turned around and shook the hand of the palmy supporter who i had been giving stick all night and said see him next year. People are passionate about the sport and some people just dont like protests (the whole keep it on the track deal) but it is what it is. At the end of the day you cant knock the palmy drivers, call into question the refs, stewards whatever (sorry if ive mentioned wrong officials ramjam ) but the drivers go out there and just race, they dont turn on the lights, they dont pull cars off the track, they get out there and race and do their darned best so a big congratulations to rees, penn, bengston, miers and hemi.

Brendon Higgins in todays Evening Standard:
It's pretty disappointing but the rules are the rules," Higgins said. "In my experience, Rod McNaughton (referee) is always fair in his decisions."
So if the drivers IN the team can understand the decision, why cant the fans?

The rules do seem clear from other discussions and putting a car onto the pole/ grass under those wet conditions would have been a tactic used many times during the meeting
however if you look at the video closely, two Stratford cars also appear to put wheels onto at least the concrete during turn 1/2. Did not see them relegated as well.
when we talk about inconsistency, look at any major stockcar/ superstock race and see them all dive to the bottom and many a race/ event is won with passes going into turn one from the start with grass cutting etc. sure some get pinged but the big guns just seem to consistently do this and get away with it most times not unlike previous posts about how much is gained under red (lack of stopping)

the decision is quite simple. you cannot drive over the poleline to gain an advantage. 83n clearly did this and passed four cars and thats why he was relegated. What he should have done is turn left and rejoin behind the car that forced him infeild and we wouldn't be having this discussion. He was not removed as during the meeting no other car was removed for breaking the same rule they where only relegated. therefore consistancy had to remain

Would it be a case that the tigers fans and most posting here arent so much against the call as they are against the inconsistency of the calls were other drivers were seen doing the same, and "coinsidentally (a dangerous word i know) in a VERY pivotal race the rule was finally applied removing 1 of the strongest teams (no offense ofcourse to the scrappers).

We could debate this issue for ever and the result would not change, we all need to get over it and look forward to next year. I would of loved to see the Glen Eagles or Tigers win but they didn't, s#*t happens. At the end of the day the best team won, the Panthers deserved there win and they played by the rules and raced and hit hard. We can't say it would have been different if the tigers had made the final, because they didn't so no one will ever know. Well done Panthers, you deserved your win and tigers were just unlucky on this occasion.
