Was there a "Spike" this year, since it's inception there has always been a bit of noise about it... this year I ain't heard or seen a cracker. I know who I'd give it to.

Yes, David Poppelwell announced and presented it at the end of the teams presentations. Maybe he didn't make as much noice as I did in the previous two years ;D
After the first night the panel had only one name; Dion Mooney
Ross Ashby got right into contention with 2 roll overs on the second night, but in the end it was awarded to 43s Steve Guilford, largely for his breathtaking antics after the serve from Peter Bengston. The crowd reacted with every single replay on the big screen.

Bit of a soft choice I thought. He didn't really do the entertaining, he was just the victim of a good hit that ended up with him rolling over in an unusual fashion. I thought there were a few others who would have been more worthy recipients of that award - Mooney and Ashby to name two.

Maybe, but it's like the 15,000 referees out there; they always see things different with every lap that's turned too.
Crowd reaction is but one gauge, and while sometimes one person might stand out to everybody, most years that will not be the case.
