A huge thank you to Katrina Meikle and Steve and the crew for the lend of the Otago Metals 58D Saloon on the finals night. James had a ball, I liked his defence to the 3 objections to his style after the first race "what can I say..I was out of control.." He was running 3rd for much of the 2nd race and went pretty well considering he's had quite a long lag in his racing career. I could tell Jumbo really enjoyed seeing his boy out there again. upload imageHere is the new 1NZ upload imageDirt Brothers Racing had a great weekend and lead the final race for non-qualifyiers for all but the last lap when Todd Moffat pulled off a neat pass. Steve Dirt pulled off the best wheelstand I've ever seen a Saloon do after the checkered flag. image hostDougal had 10C flying all weekend and qualified for the NZ Champ finals. His clutch stopped working but he still went out for the last race with no clutch at all. I said "good on ya Dougal, it would've been easy to just put it on the trailer", he said "na mate, it would have been easy to just stay in Christchurch". Good on ya mate. image hostI've got lots more pics to post from the NZ Saloon Champs, I'll start a new thread on the Go Slideways board and try to get some more up tonight. Thanks again Katrina for the loan of the Otago Metals 58D car, it's a great car.

The 55T are hard cases ,running a budget car .Where abit stiff in one of the qualyfying races where holding out S Williams for a large part of the race until he drove over the top of them buggering their chances If there was 1 car I wanted to win a race on the night it was them They led all the way but got nailed the last lap for 2nd Awsome show the Saloon boys put on

Yep, those 55T guys are great value, doing it all on a budget and making a pretty good job of it too! Much as I appreciate Moff's driving, I must say I was hoping for 55T to hold on that last lap and take the win - would have been well deserved! ;D Think there might have been some partying later on... the Dirt Brothers were sleeping in their trailer in the pits - and no sign of life when I was up there with my boys Ministock at midday!

Yeah I reckon 55T epitomise's the spirit of the class, a $500 engine and budget shocks, diff etc.. and still highly competitive. Same deal with the car that is now 2NZ, I believe it was found at the dump. Here's the Cromwell car outside the Dirt Star Hotel, the Dirt Brothers made the most of their trip up to the big smoke and were still at an aquarium somewhere watching mermaids at 8am. image upload

Katrina didn't qualify and had a slightly sore back, so she very generously gave the keys to James to launch his come back. He went well too. It's a top car that Otago Metals 58D free image hosting

Thankyou to Wellington Speedway, all the other competitors, our crew and sponsors, Gary and Maria Marshall for their brilliant hospitality and to Marias' Mum for bacon and egg pie and lasagne to die for.
We had a great weekend, (thank goodness it stopped raining just before each meeting.)
Congratulations to Brent 1NZ and Alan 3NZ and Paul Cressy 4NZ.
We really enjoyed all the other competitors, volunteers and everyone else who made it a really enjoyable LONG travel away.
Phil & Christine Towgood 48A 2NZ

Here's about a dozen, sorry if they all appear to be a bit limited, but they're from my own album, just watching and supporting our people and our cars, not trying to cover the whole meeting. Hope you enjoy them anyway. ;D 0 gif upload1 adult image hosting2 post image wordpress3 png upload4 png upload5 hosting images6 adult image hosting7 adult image hosting8 image host9 upload gif10 post image wordpress11 post image wordpress12 upload pngpng13 image hosting14 ~ whoops ~ wrong picture, dunno how that happened.. free image hosting15 image uploaderUmm..
