A few snaps from our trip to Auckland Teams Finals night.
Unfortunately I had to be in 2 different places at 4 different times on Friday, so I missed the first nights racing and missed out on seeing Mitty join the WP High Flyers Club live, he was still smiling on Saturday so that was all good.
After I picked up Daniel Burmeister (Stockcar 172P) and Bryn Liddell (Stockcar 197P) we went round to Wardy's place to check out Solly's new Stockcar 98N. Bryn and Jayden Ward (stockcar 971P) had been up all night after picking up Solly's car from the South Island and bringing it back across Cook Straight amidst Tsunami warnings.
It took Daniel 2.5 seconds to get in it and test the rev counter, all good.
The only problem with 98N that I noticed is that it's way too quiet, pretty sure that's fixed now

After the inspection stop at Wardy's place me, Daniel, Bryn-up-all-night and Nicola boarded the trusty XR6 began our voyage to Waikaraka (Green Water) Park.
We decided to take some snaps of cool cars and bikes we saw along the way.
First one we saw was this cool BombsAway tow truck partly obscured by Superstock driver Tony Whittakers sparkly Chevrolet. He's lucky we were in a hurry, cars parked on the road with no number plates are usually fair game for the crusher in Palmy.

Then we had to shoot round to Mark Gapps shop for a couple of items, and spotted this Heavy Metal Ford parked outside.

Hadn't travelled 20 feet and this narly Camaro crossed our path

Stopped for gas along the way and had a talk to the owner of this 1500cc Kawasaki Mean Streak. It was the first time that the 16 year old guy who painted the tank had used an airbrush. Pretty good for first attempt I reckon, and not too far away from the ultimate winged deaths head design, but you'll never see that one on a Kawasaki.

On the way through Hamilton Daniel leaned out the window and got this pic of a cool Pontiac muscle car.

When we got to the Ridlands yard in Auckland there was this snazzy Chevy ute there.

Runs a worked and blown 350, a real tyre shredder.

Then we finally arrived at Waikaraka Park, told the Samoan guy in the Hi Viz that we had parts, tools and race gear and we were crew, but he insisted following us in and on us paying full price.
I didn't mind that, but what did cause me concern was when he smirked at me and put the money straight into his pocket. Sadly, I doubt our contribution ever made it to the Clubs coffers.
Anyway... we're here.... Hello Panthers, Go the Kings!

Peter Rees can park his butt wherever he like's at any track in New Zealand, but that still doesn't make him a King - he's just a Legend.

This is the last ever photo that will be taken of Shane Penn driving for thr mighty Panthers. This is entering the pits after the final victory lap, a few minutes later he was out of the car and an awesome era for the Panthers ended. YOU ARE THE MAN SHANE, simply awesome contribution over many years.

2 good bastards, I've still got your favorite Ford hat too Tony, all you've got to do is bring your hot rot Superstock 71H for a skid at Palmy and I'm sure you'll get it back. ;D
