Max passed away on Friday night Max 52W was a very keen stockcar driver starting in the 1970/71 season at Te Marua Speedway and did very well at it locally and around the country. Max was Wellington Stockcar champ in the 73/74 & 74/75 season and 3rd twice in the national Pall Mall champ in the early 70’s and he was also a very keen and aggressive team member of the Wellington Wildcats for a number of years.

Its with sad news that i read the passing of Max.I knew him in the early years at Te Marua Speedway. He always impressed me with his skills at driving. Everyone who new Max will have some, story to shear,he was always smiling, and as for that cheeky grin of his. At the end of every meeting he would all ways try to be in the club rooms first, don't quite know who was the better drinker him or his dog buster, both had been known to stagger out of the club rooms in the wee early hours of the a.m when no ligths were need on the trailers ;D Our thoughts are with Max's family. Rest in peace Max Kevin and Sue Chambers

Agree with you Kevin. Max really got me hooked on speedway 40+ years ago. Travelled all over the country with him & usually Buster, had some hilarous times usually involving large amounts of alcohol & not always after the meeting. A founding member of the Filmpro team. A member of the Wgtn team & also represented NZ at Forest Lake & Auck. The little gnome will be sadly missed. Rest well my friend, enjoy your time with Buster again.
Phil.

I have just found out that Max Price has passed away.I would like to know the circumstances.Max was my best man at my wedding.I introduced him to stock cars when i purchased my 1st car from Wilbur Chiles. He was my mechanic and then he shared driving my car 56w.We swapped out the flat hesd dodge foe 3.8 jag. Then Max decided to build his own car 52w.We formed the team Filmpro team and I painted the cars in team colours at Maxs garage where I ending up working for him.At one time I lived right behind him and we had some wild parties.I raced with Max in the Wellington Wildcats and we went and beat the Wanganui warriors in there 1st teams race.I resided right behind Maxs house on Hutt rd and we had some wild parties.
